Yes, I am a member of the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCDS) and we are required to wear one at all times, other than bathing or swimming.

I have been wearing mine for 3 years and cannot imagine not wearing it now.

Pax carmeli,

Happy Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast day to all!

I used to, but then I realized I personally had a big problem with discerning superstition from sacramentals such as scapulars, medals, blessed salt, etc. I don’t wear one now…but not for any particular reason.

Do you wear the brown scapular?
Yes at all times, day and night and I have for years and years. When one finally falls off or is otherwise destroyed, I immediately put on another one. I keep several handy at all times. I can’t imagine not wearing one.

Yep - my family wears the scapular (even the 16 year-old!), and none of us would be without it.

Not yet, but have often seriously thought of doing so. I wear the MM and the Rosary is so very important to me along with St. Therese - it really seems like a natural. I’m just hesitant of it showing at my neckline, esp. at work, since I often wear either boatnecks or v-necks. Is this a problem for you? I’ve thought that maybe I should wait until I retire to start wearing it.

I carry the Brown and the Green Scapular with me in my wallet. Hope it works just the same in that way…

I have a funny friend who says (when her scapular peeks out), “Our Lady is evangelizing again!”
You can wear a long (36") scapular which can be tucked into your bra, and that will help your peek-a-boo problem.

I have worn one for years - but have never had it blessed or been enrolled in the Scapular group. I don’t want it to be a superstition, but when I feel it I want to think of who I am, why I am wearing it (as a “client of Mary”), and to keep my priorities straight!!!

Thanks! Now I just have to decide between St. Therese and Our Lady of Guadelupe:D

I do not wear one, though i received one from my God Mother for confirmation a few years ago. I’ve always wanted to, but haven’t due to confusion about how to be installed and what prayers to pray.

Now that i know how to be installed and what to pray, i can hopefully ask a priest to do it soon. I think i’ll wait till i get back to college because i like the parish priest there, even though the local bishop told me “oh, just start wearing it” as if he had never heard of a scapular… No surprise there…
