Do your believe that Satan is real?

He’s real. I saw him just before confirmation at the retreat they make the kids go on just before the big sacrament.

We were doing that slain in the spirit speak in tongues deal. Everyone was falling about and flicking their labias. It had me taken at first. And, then it was my turn – There was man sitting there staring at me. He didn’t say anything but I got a real creepy sense. I’ve never been more creeped out and it still burned into my mind. The priest tried to ‘slay’ me and I was willing until I got the sense that it was wrong – like something didn’t fit. You know that feeling when you’re about to be a real bad boy and you know you shouldn’t. Let’s say I wasn’t slain. I realize today it’s my choice to not believe that stuff. I’ve read books by monks and saints who achieve the ‘quiet’. They say hours senses and desire to experience things is often tainted. I’ve learned I don’t need a warm fuzzy feeling. If I sought that fuzzy feeling it means I doubt God. I’ll focus on the Eucharist to have communion with the Almighty.

So when you ask is satan real. Hell yes he’s real. I led a pretty bad lifestyle and for the past two years I’ve been good. That son of gun puts me into horrible dreams in vivid color from time to time – like once a month. “I’m going to get you!” and I get horrible images from time to time… stuff I couldnt make up. Until I went back to being a churchgoer I never dreamt. On the flip side there is the Holy Spirit and what a comfort He is. He pesters me too, but not the same way or as frequently. Let’s say I have no doubts anymore St. Thomas. The more priests I talk the more I understand this is normal and common. I’ve been told I must be doing something right. Moreover, watch a married couple. When things are just about to go right – the demonic drives a wedge between them. Original sin exists for a reason. We might have chosen it but satan helped it along.

Other than that its a normal regular American life. And, I’m not doing it ALL right because I still need to go to confession regularly, and laugh in the devil’s face. He’s a big wuss.

Perhaps we can prove the existance of Satan by proving the existance of sin (not that that is a very difficult task).
I once read an interesting (if not too simplified) definition of sin as “missing the point” of life(from the early transulations of Greek used to describe sin). As we have been taught through scripture Christ has told us that the point of life (two greatest commandments) is to Love God with all your heart and to Love one another as I have Loved you. (The caps are used to indicate that love is a real thing).
This seems a realtively easy thing to do if not for something standing in our way. Every time we choose to do something that is not in accordance with the point of life, we sin.
Therefore if sin exists, and we all agree that it does, and as nothing can be in existance without a beginning or source, there must be someone advocating or helping us to miss the point. That would be Satan. He does exist and is the source of our temptation to "miss the point’ of life.

God is the Great I AM

Satan is the great I am not

Does the Devil and demons exist yes, why, because Jesus says they does. And all I need to know is that he is the bad guy, and should flee faster from him then a starship at warp speed

Is Satan real? I don’t believe so. It’s just us.

Ironically Yours, Blade and Blood

Mythological ideas of Satan with legions of devils…penetrated from Babylonian mythology into early Judaism and from there into the New Testament."-On Being a Christian…I guess Kung doesn’t believe in Satan…why am I not surprised?

Yes. I’m tormented day and night, especially during Lent. He’s very real.

Yes he is real. I’ve seen his footprint on every picture I have ever seen of an aborted baby.

I believe to deny one is to deny the other.

IMHO if you do not believe Satan exists then you don’t believe God truly exists.

Satan’s greatest achievement is in getting people to believe he doesn’t exist.

Of course Satan is real. In the Gospel, Jesus refers to him often. LUKE 22:31 “And the Lord said: Simon, Simon, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat”
Douay-Rheims

Where did we get the info that satan was a fallen angel?
Are you trying to get someone to do your Bible lesson for you? 🙂
I can’t think why a Christian would ask this question.
If you really don’t know, then google it.

CB,
Great response. 🙂 thank you.

To the orignal poster ,
Satan even had the nerve to try and tempt Jesus Christ. Now that’s audacity personified.
I think he’s on your tail. I would pray if I were you. Now!

Where did we get the info that satan was a fallen angel?
From the teaching of the Catholic Church from early days to the present.
For example:
“Satan was an angel, he exalted himself. What then? was he not humbled beyond all other?”
Saint John Chrysostom (c. 347–407)
Homily on the Epistle of St. Paul to the Philippians
and
“Satan or the devil and the other demons are fallen angels who have freely refused to serve God and his plan. Their choice against God is definitive. They try to associate man in their revolt against God.”
Catechism of the Catholic Church (#414)

You could also prayerfully consider these passages from Holy Scripture.

I don’t believe that he exists as some red demon with horns, tail, and pitchfork. I believe that evil exists in some way.
