Yes, he certainly does exist. He succeeds at deluding so many people, especially by their own pride.
I don’t believe that he exists as some red demon with horns, tail, and pitchfork. I believe that evil exists in some way.
Maybe not in that exact way, but certainly he exists as a distinct entity, as more than just some vague unnamed evil presence.

If he is red with horns, a tail and a pitchfork, that would make the Halloween costumes all the more disturbing.

If does not exist, then what was the whole point of the crucifixion? That would throw out the story of Adam and Eve, the fall from grace, and the pouring of the of Christ for our salvation and further, the entire bible would be a lie.

Just my opinion. I’m no theologian. Just common sense to me.

:bible1: :ehh:
good point:thumbsup:

Hi,

Yes, I can tell you Satan is real. I have had three visits from him just recently. Two were very terrifying.

Oh, he exists. If you ever experience him, you will never forget it nor have reason to question his existence again.

I have heard a number of people on these forums say they have been visited by Satan. This is very terrifying.

I am curious what it is about those people in particular that result in these visits. Is it because you are very pious and holy individuals. (I know humble people do not want to say that about themselves, but that would be my guess.)

I never ever want to experience one of these visits, but why is it that he is visiting some and not others? Does he already have his hooks in the rest of us somehow that we don’t know about so he doesn’t bother?

You do not have to answer if you do not want to. I would understand if it is too personal. I just find this all very frightening and do wonder about it.

Chiltepin,

I consider myself a devout Catholic. I go to church Saturday and Sunday, do the first Fridays and say the Rosary everyday and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercies. But as to why I have had these visitations, not even my Pastor knows. He just says it is a cross to bear. Satan comes to all of us in various ways, but to some he does manifest visually or physically. I never know when I go to bed if I am going to be pulled out of sleep by him. Perhaps Satan has challenged God is some way. Possibly Satan is trying to make me upset enough that I will turn from God. Who knows. But it is a cross to bear. I would not wish this on anyone. As you say, perhaps, other are so into his evil way that their is not need to manifest to them, he already has them. My personal opinion is that God has to give Satan permission to come to someone physically or visually. But this is just my opinion. I don’t mind sharing this info with you.

Thank you for responding. Well, I hope he gives up and leaves you alone. I don’t know you, but from the sound of it, there is no way you would turn away from God!

Hi Chiltepin,

I believe that what is happening to me is either for God’s Glory or my good in some way. So I will just have to believe and carry my cross. I could not think of turning from an eternal God of happiness, the One, who holds the leash of power over a subservient Satan.

Of course, otherwise why would there be Freemasonry, Abortion, Homosexuality and sin?

I’ve never seen Satan (that I know of), or dealt with him physically, but I feel his presence at times. And it’s definitely not because I’m holy. I’m going through kind of a dark time in my spirituality right now, and I think he knows it, and is pouncing on the opportunity. I’m struggling with alot of things right now, and sometimes I feel like I’m losing. He always seems to strike harder and faster at Lent, and this year was no exception.

Hi,

Satan has hit me at a low time too. I just lost my mother in December. We had been together for nearly 60 years. Satan is trying to take advantage of my grief at this time. Pray for the Peace of Christ and know that God is in total control regardless of what you feel. The Peace of Christ will see you through.

to be a Christian you have to believe in Satan. It is in your baptimal vows.

How is being a Mason considered bad?
To be a Mason is forbidden by the Catholic Church. See previous threads here at CAF, and maybe check EWTN’s website. It’s never preached, just as many other evils are never spoken of, but that doesn’t change the Church’s teaching.

God bless

Turn this statement around in the realm of good and evil and apply it to God or traditions of what God should look like “I don’t believe that he exists as a diety that is like man but with a white beard and a son that was on earth but I** believe that good exists in some way.”** See how new agey it can get. Maybe not red with horns but he is as real as an angel, as a human, or as God Himself. Satan is not just some vague entity just a scary word for “bad” or “sin” If you know your Church, your history, your Bible and your Saviour then you cannot banish satan to some obscure theological idea.

I just heard Fr Mitch say many theologians deny he exists?

I sure do, I have seen enough evil to convince me…The popes seem to also believe he is real
Yes. I believe that there are fallen angels, that there are spirits, spirits with a leader, a leader who leads only by virtue of his superior power, spirits who lie, who tempt, who are in rebellion against God and who desire to spread that rebellion everywhere, who desire to dominate souls because they have an unquenchable thirst for power and control over that which only God may rightly control and over which only God ultimately has power. I believe these spirits accuse souls before God and teach souls to fear God, in an effort to wrestle dominion from God and in order to drive souls to despair of any hope that God can or wants to give them eternal life. I believe that they do this both because they hate God and because they covet the power God has over us and resent the power God has over everything that is. They seek our enslavement, suffering, and misery, in order to increase their own sense of power. I believe that these spirits can only cower before God, and for reason of this impotence these spirits are full of fury and hatred.

I believe that these are totally different from an honest spirit of questioning and innocent curiosity about the nature of God’s providence and about how God’s will works in the world. I believe these spirits are not particular about how they enslave us, that they are as pleased to produce perversions of religion that really seek to control others and even seek to control or ignore God as they are pleased to erase religion entirely. I believe that their goal is to separate us from God in order to dominate our wills, and how they achieve that is unimportant to them. All that matters to them is that our lives work in opposition the will of God. It is only important to them that we choose these lives, that we are in fact in rebellion and thus utterly vulnerable to the spiritual power they have as angelic spirits, and not that we are willing to admit why we have chosen lives of rebellion. I do not think that the appearance of holiness bothers the evil spirits, as long as real holiness is absent. It does not matter to a slaughterer that an animal knows it is being fattened for slaughter, or how it comes to be fat, only that the animal fattens and that it does not escape consumption.

I also believe that humans are fully capable of rebelling from God without the help of a tempter. If there were no fallen angels, I believe we would still struggle against sin, because I believe sin comes from our own thirst for the control that belongs only to God. Nevertheless, I believe that Satan and the other evil spirits actively seek our ruin.

How is being a Mason considered bad?
At one time European masonry was very political and in the early to mid 1800’s had members who were involved in movements to overturn the ruling political institutions of the day and replace them with institutions based on popular government (i.e. rule by the people instead of kings or, ahem, popes). The year 1848 saw revolutions all over Europe that were a means to liberal change, meaning to change the status quo. The Church’s ban on being a mason generally comes from this “subversive” mentality and that all men, regardless of religious or nonreligious belief, were welcome.

Masons of today are usually about getting together on Wednesday nights, smoking cigars, playing cards or pool and drinking beer.

An interesting observation is that many of the founding fathers of the United States of America were indeed masons and adhered to what is today called “masonic principles.” And what are these principles? We call it Democracy. 🙂

I also just remembered that Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was reportedly a mason, too!

Timothysis,

Thank you for your post.

This is probably the most accurate depiction I’ve seen on masonry on CAF (most seem to accuse us of some type of conspiracy or of something diabolic).

The only difference that I could find from you description above is that alcohol is prohibited at the masonic lodges in which I am familiar.

Thank you for being fair.

A Dios,
