Do your parents ever ask you the race of the person you're seeing?

I don’t know how Europeans can claim to be pure anything, read history, there has been mixing going on since the beginning of time. Look at the physical differences found within European nations amongst the people. The ‘purest’ group in the world are supposedly the Japanese.

Right, and avflf hasn’t admitted that, nor explained to me what ‘white’ is, and like you said they are not pure of anything.

Whites, like all other races, are not pure in the sense that they interbred within their own racial sub-groups. But that does not mean that they, or any other race, should continue to dilute the genetic pool by interbreeding with other races.

There are many different cultural differences but one trouble of race is finding the dividing lines between the races. There are no clear definite lines.

It’s you guys that believe that the Bible is the Word of God, not me. So if it says not to mix you should be the first to obey.
 
Miriam was punished for criticizing Moses’ interracial marriage. Song of Solomon is a celebration of an interracial marriage. All the “races” came very quickly from Noah’s three sons and their wives. Surely the wives must have had widely different physical traits, for the husbands’ genes were similar and the diversity was seen in just a few generations. Therefore, Noah’s daughters-in-law were probably of three different pre-Flood races.
There is now no Jew or Greek, Scythian or barbarian, slave or free, male or female. We are all one in Christ Jesus.

Not really…at least not unless you’re a young Earth creationist. If we begin with a start date of 130,000 B.C., of which there have been anatomical remains of Homo Sapiens from that time, and allow a comparable time of eight thousand years for the build-up of pre-flood society (given the agrarian nature and building materials in the Flood story this is probably significantly less), that still leaves a period of at least 120,000 years for the geographical diversification effect on adaptation to give rise to the three main sub-groups of humans.

Taking into account the lesser mobility implied at the time (building a giant wooden boat to get away), it’s very likely that the wives of Moses’ son were of similar race, and given the group dynamics of late hunter-gather/early agrarian cultures, I’d even wager that there was probably some degree of cosanguination among the survivors of the flood, which might even explain the mention of dramatically decreased lifespan of the post-deluvian world through the introduction of genetic mutation.

I honestly think if God intended for us to not ‘interbreed’ then he would give us all incompatible organs unless we were the same race. After all, he does make it harder for homosexuals and its funny that some religious people consider interracial relationships far worse than homosexual relationships.

First to the Song of Solomon - (Son 1:6) “Look not upon me, because I am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother’s children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.”
To me it appeas she was sun-tanned.
And **if **the Ethiopian woman that Moses married was not an Israelite, how do you account for Moses’ injunction in Deut. 23:2 or indeed the commandment “Thou shall not commit adultery” from ‘adulterate’ ie to make something less pure by adding inferior or unsuitable elements or substances to itEncarta® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1999 Microsoft Corporation. This as opposed to extra-marital relations for the commandment “Thou shall not covet …” deals with infidelity, and I do not see God repeating himself very often. “Thou shalt not commit adultery” means just that - do not adulterate your seed.

What does a “Believer” believe, I wonder.

I assume you subscribe to the biblical ideology of not mixing races as you have come to understand it, or are you just agitating people? Could there be another reason your quoted references might be so unrelated to your conclusion, that you might see an offense, and feel shame? Not to care about your perception here or anywhere is selfish.

Why do you assume the separation of the Jews at that time was/is a perpetual directive? More importantly, why would God require that of them…or anyone at any time?

If you are going to use such logic to draw you’re conclusion you should not put limits on it. However you personally reconcile Genesis, on the 6th Day Man was created. The human race. To suggest any one human is not in any way equal with another is illogical since there is no basis to do so. This was not altered with Noah, or at the Tower of Babel. Gn 6 has the only reference as I recall being relevent or of note to this point.

Unless you think Darwin’s Adam evolved, the Created Adam cannot be unequal; He made them male and female from the Man. Genetics prevent interbreeding with anything non-human. This includes any and all hominids/animal discovered or known to date. There is no missing link. We are unique, and at some point in time we came to Be on the Earth to play our part in Creation.

I see the Jews as a flock that only God could cull out of the rest of humanity for a divine purpose. They were Chosen and they listened and obeyed-mostly. Interesting that about 1800 years before Christ the Jewish Race started as they ‘purified’ itself as maybe more proper; required even, for the Son of Man to arrive. 🙂

Gold is fired to make it pure. So too were the Jews- for our salvation comes from the Jews. They are very few now, and deserve our honor and respect. Hopefully they, as well as the rest of the world will soon come to realize the Shepherd has shown us the way to go through life in a manner acceptable to God, and while we have life, we should live it to the full doing our best to follow The Way.

If that means the white guy (me) likes the asian girl (wife), or the Eskimo boy likes the Mexican girl, or the African girl likes the Russian guy; and if they are lucky enough to have the political and religious freedom to choose their faith, along with unwarranted grace to be born and raised in the Catholic Church…or those who find their way here the first time or back to stay…and all those who search for the Truth which is everybody. If the possibility is available for one pair in the Church, it is available for all outside the Church.

God is not prejudiced, but Just. He created everything to include moral and physical limits. We can not and should not inter-breed with non-human animals, and unless you also argue an evolved sub-human species is alive and living among us…I’m not sure what your issue could be.

To begin: If I spent my days in the Ethiopian sun, I wouldn’t turn black, but red. “Black” African newborns are actually pale yellowish beige. The sun makes them darker. Some people even make a public ritual of setting the baby outside and letting the villagers watch the change happen. So, if the sun made her black, it is because she is “black” in the first place. Otherwise it would make her tan, then red.

At least I reach… it’s good exercise. If Moses wife and the woman in Sol’s song were black as you say why then the injunction by Moses himself in Deuteronomy?
The meaning of words in the present day are not necessarily the same as in the older days. Take “gay” for example.
The word 'bastard" is applied to someone conceived out of wedlock today, but the Hebrew meaning of the word used in Deut. 23:2 depicts a person born of mixed parentage.:rolleyes:

Also, there was a time when mixed race children were not accepted. It’s better now, but our parent’s generation probably still worries how mixed race children would be treated.
