Doctor: Couples open to donating embryos (for stem cell research)

I just can’t understand the thought process–go through a lengthy, expensive, and emotionally draining process in order to have a baby and then turn around and say it’s OK to experiment on those babies who didn’t get selected for implantation. Too bizarre. If they want to get rid of those embryos, why not put them out for adoption so other infertile couples can have a chance to have a child?
