Doctor was nice....but there's a LONG, hard, painful road ahead before surgery.

So I went to the surgeon today. It looks like I have to see ANOTHER doctor and get 3 GI tests. Not totally surprising, but not happy with another specialist getting mixed in, thought he would do the tests himself. He’s pretty sure there’s nothing else wrong (besides the Endometriosis) but wants to make sure. Fine, whatever. He thinks I need a full hysterectomy and oophorectomy (wish I could get crazy Napro doctor to agree to that.:banghead Then when that’s all done I have to re-coordinate with the Napro GYN and see if he’s on the same page still. (I’m beginning to DESPISE Napro technology for Endometriosis treatment ) THEN I will get the surgery if they all agree it the best option. (((((SIIIIIIIIGH))))

So lucky me! I don’t know what the heck is going on but it looks like a long hard road ahead and at least a couple months before they operate. Nobody wants to be the responsible one. They keep passing me back and forth like a hot potato. While I continue being doped up on narcotics and can’t work or do much of anything (including sex with hubby) but lay like a lump.

Not a happy camper today. :crying:

I think it’s long past time to bail on your NaPro OB/GYN. You yourself said that the NaPro OB/GYN is “crazy” and you obviously don’t trust their judgment anymore.

You need a doctor that you trust 100% (or at least 98%)–it doesn’t sound like that is your NaPro doctor.

I know that switching doctors has the potential to delay your progress, but having a doctor you trust is essential, and if you talk to this new surgeon about this, they can probably pull strings to get you in to a different OB/GYN that they respect in reasonably good time.

You need to get over this and go see a qualified Dr who will treat you appropriately. You are way, way past the point of having exhausted every option you have with this NaPro guy.

Frankly, if your priest and deacon are telling you that you cannot take OCP’s and need to go through with these major surgeries and continue with this NaPro guy they have no idea what they’re talking about- both from a medical and a religious perspective.

This has been an ongoing painful battle for you that is breaking you physically and mentally. It is time to move on and get some qualified help.

As cold as it might sound, this is becoming the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Your sanity depends on finding a solution and it does not seem to be with NaPro. You need another medical opinion.

Take good care of the body the Lord has given to you. It is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

Secondly, Napro is not anything new - its just methods all jumbled together that do not use any artificial hormones. Good Catholic advertising. My DD has stage 4 endo and has had 2 surgeries to get rid of endos. UCLA and Cedars Siani in Los Angeles have been awesome. The Mirena IUD has helped stunt growth of endos without putting her into premature menopause at age thirty. Their hope is that by monitoring the growth, she will still be able to get pregnant. Wonderful physicians.

“And there was a woman who had had a flow of blood for twelve years, and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse.”

I’m still just torn. It’s just dealing with the stigma. Why do so many practicing Catholics (priests, sisters, theologians, CA and EWTN Apologists, and laity alike) put Napro technology on such a golden pedistal and throw it in your face and make you feel bad if you go elsewhere. It’s always ALWAYS “well did you try Napro?”

Also the Deacon holds so much credibility in my opinion cause he IS a retired physician. Though he was a pediatrician. He wants me to do Napro and no birth control. He is also my spiritual director.

And don’t you have to abstain from marital sex while on the pill due to its potintial abortifacient effects? I’m not sure I want to give up relations for the rest of my reproductive years?

A retired pediatrician can give advice on retired pediatric medicine. Nothing more.

Not being born would help! Cause I know that God’s not going to heal me. I don’t get healed. I get more suffering.

Seriously, life is just not worth all this endless pain and suffering.

Thank you all for your kind and supportive replies. They mean a lot to me right now. They really do. I don’t get them in real life. :grouphug:

I’m super hesitant about the BCP cause of the abortifacient feature. I’d feel like I couldn’t have sex. Also even if we did decide to have sex since we’ve been using NFP to avoid, at my husbands wishes, then I’d feel guilty that the contraceptive effects was making it so we didn’t have to go through the hardships of NFP.

At least with a hysterectomy no babies would be hurt (or heaven forbid killed!) and so we could still have marital sex.

I can feel my mind just totally loosing it over this. I’m going to wind up in the psych ward again I can feel it. Oh goody! More fun.

Yeah I know there’s still the pill (which I’m hesitant for several reasons on). And hysterectomy and oophorectomy (which I’m totally fine with) but many doctors won’t because I’m only 33 and I don’t have living children. Most of them say BCP is the way to go…which again I don’t necessarily want it.
