Regarding the show, I’m going to quote the Ninth doctor; Fantastic!

It’s a great show, probably my favourite. The actors who play the Doctor are brilliant. If you plan on starting to watch the show, start with the first episode of the rebooted series with Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor

I’d do that, but also go back and pick one or two of the classic Doctor Who episodes to watch just to give a bit of extra scope to some of the reboot’s episodes.

I do the same with Star Trek, although truth be told, The Original Series is by far the best anyway.

Voyager was the best and Janeway was the best captain…AND pro-life…

😃

Been a “Who” fan for over 30 years. All of our kids get to watch it with us! 🙂

I would actually go a step farther - even though the show is not actually catholic or christian…
🙂
yeah. I doubt the Dr is a Christian. I think he is an athiests. But i have never recalled him saying anything bad about religion or anyone who believes in it.

Not to be a killjoy, but this is part of what I meant about keeping your catholic filters up while watching. Who is like almost all other modern media in that the unspoken underlying assumption is one of defacto atheism. God is irrelevant, at most. Theater and film work best by inviting audiences to identify with characters. Be careful identifying with characters with a worldview in which God is superflous or nonexistent. That’s not advice unique to this show, but to ALL shows.

The way to enjoy it is to NOT personally identify with the characters, but to be a present observer. It’s admittedly less fun, but necessary to avoid becoming just another lemming in our larger culture.
