Has anyone heard of the book by Erwin Lutzer called “Doctrines That Divide?” I glanced through it and from what I can tell, seems to be anti-catholic. I noticed that it contained sites and references from Lorraine Boettner’s book “Roman Catholicism”, which is considered to be the “Bible of Anti-Catholicism”. Does anyone have any refutes to this book?

Karl Keating’s Catholicism and Fundamentalism answers the common objections of the likes of Lutzer and Boettner.

Lutzer is a protestant, and he approaches the subject from that perspective, but in a fair and scholarly manner. I think the term “anti-Catholic” is a bit harsh.

Lutzner did, indeed, cite Boettner once (in his chapter on Mary). However, this chapter also cited Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma (Ludwig Ott) six times, and St. Alphonsus de Liguori (eight times).

This might be a book to avoid. I picked it up (sadly in a Catholic church library) and flicked through it . In the chapter about Transubstantiation- the word “cannibalism” was used I felt sick.
This is not a balanced look at the differences between religions. In every chapter the author’s view (protestant) was deemed the true answer.
