Does 2 Timothy 2:22 want me to not keep desires at all at young age?

Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Timothy 2:22)

I’ve been told that desire itself is not a sin but acting on it is.

And aren’t desires uncontrollable?

Then how can I free myself from desires at young age?

I’ve been told that desire itself is not a sin but acting on it is.
That’s because we can’t prevent ourselves from having a desire, it’s in our nature, our physiology. Luckily we have mind with which to control our actions though.

We pray to align our wills with what we are taught of Gods will for us. We fall, we confess and we persevere. In time it will become easier if you desire it enough, in the meantime we ask God to assist us in our endeavour to be pleasing to Him.

You are a child of God, He is the best Father, just ask for help and forgiveness in your weakness.

but if it’s a part of God’s word. Then I have to stop myself from such desires . Tho I can’t. How will god forgive me?

Jesus told us to forgive seven times seventy, seven is a number meaning eternity in scripture so He was telling us that we should forgive endlessly, time and time again. Now He wouldn’t tell us that if He wouldn’t do the same. So be assured you will be forgiven but you should try to control your desires nonetheless. Each time you do you strengthen your will, each time you fail strengthens your desire to not repeat it. Little by little you gain strength and move towards your ideal self, the one that God wants in heaven in the fullness of time.

Desires are indirectly controllable through the habits and patterns of thinking we form. We have the potential to be easily angered, but we fan that desire by deliberately ruminating on those thoughts, reading material that makes us angry, allowing angry words to come from our mouth, etc., which never relieves the desire but only makes its hold on us stronger in the future.

But if we do the opposite and do, say & think things that are contrary to the illicit desire, even the desire itself can gradually weaken over years of practice.

These aren’t changes you will be able to notice in yourself from day to day. It is imperceptible, the same way that we can’t perceive a tree growing. But if we follow those spiritual habits and daily receive God’s graces, and then look over the course of a few years, you will be able to see differences.

Peace.
