As someone who has never liked soap operas, I think the video is spot on.
Soap operas began on radio. I remember the ones my mother used to listen to:“Our Gal Sunday”–about an orphan, raised by miners out West who marries an English lord (theme song “Red River Valley”) Then there was “The Romance of Helen Trent,” the story which asked the question, can a woman over 35 find love and happiness? (theme song “Juanita”)–made me think that once a woman hit 35 it was all over for her.
