Does a rosary with a St. Benedict Medal and Miraculous medal require special blessings?

I got a rosary that was handmade off of etsy. It has on it, a miraculous medal and a St. Benedict Medal on the crucifix.

I asked my priest to bless it and he said a general blessing, something like “God bless this object… etc” on it. However, I wasn’t sure if it was done incorrectly because it contained these medals. Should I ask him to redo it? Or was it done properly?

Here is a pic of it:

Your rosary has been blessed by the priest. He did it properly. No special re-blessing is necessary.
Beautiful rosary, btw. 😉

God bless

Thanks for the reply, and compliment! I always get hung up on this type of thing, I think I have religious OCD, hah!

Hi

There is a separate blessing for the medal of St Benedict. A general blessing covers the rosary and miraculous medal.

You may wish to google the St Benedict medal blessing, print it out and take it with you to the priest.

God Bless.

OP. please don’t’ do this, unless you want your priest to think you’re some kind of scrupulous nut and possibly offend him. A priest’s blessing of a devotional object is fine in whichever way he does it. His hands and his words are enough. The prayers associated with such are what are miraculous and efficacious.

Be at peace.

Hi Leevo

It is up to you to do whatever you wish; its your rosary.

However the fact remains that an ancient, Church-approved blessing exists for the St Benedict medal. St Benedict is the Father of European Monasticism and was a renowned exorcist.

The St Benedict medal is very powerful against evil when used with faith and seeking the intercession of St Benedict as it contains prayers of exorcism inscribed on it. It may be the case that some priests are not familiar with the blessing. It may also be the case that some priests may not be too keen to use the particular blessing for whatever reason e.g. Unfamiliarity perhaps or a feeling that a general blessing is all that is required.

However the fact remains that a special, powerful blessing for St Benedict medals exists. It is valid and highly efficacious. Never fear being made to feel silly or scrupulous about such things. These are treasures of our Faith handed down to us. If a priest refuses to bless your item using the St Benedict medal blessing then thank him and ask another priest to do so.

All my St Benedict medals have been blessed appropriately. I know a lady who has had priests decline to bless items using the appropriate blessings e.g. For salt, candles, oil, St Benedict medals and she just perseveres until she finds a priest who is willing to bless her items appropriately.

I can tell you that St Benedict is extremely powerful against evil as is His medal. I have personal experience that this is the case and I am not a scrupulous nutcase.

God bless you whatever you decide.

Thank you for that information. I have a set of Rosary beads that has been blessed but a St. Benedict medal was attached afterwards. I will have that blessed appropriately as well.

Beautiful rosary. ❤️ As the other posters said, you’re fine. 👍
