Do they look forward to the resurection of their own body?
I don’t know if they miss their bodies, exactly, but all souls–whether in heaven or still on earth–look with joyful hope to the Resurrection of the dead, and the joy of the world to come.

Hi Mark,

According to Aritstotelian/Thomistic philosophy, the soul is the “form” of the body, the principle that makes it this or that individual. When we die, the body eventually decomposes into its elements that may become part of other bodies, so that we don’t resurrect with the same atoms that we had when we died, but, I suppose with the same DNA.

As for the soul, it is not made to exist by itself but with a spefic body. We say that it is “ordered” to that body. We should not, however, think that souls are “pining” or unhappy. The souls of the saved see God “face to face” and enjoy eternal bliss.
