Because I’m applying for jobs and don’t want to work for a company that supports things against catholic teachings. I don’t care how people identify themselves as long as they acknowledge or open to the fact that being gay is a defect.

There’s a difference between supporting an agenda and not discriminating against people, even on the basis of sexual orientation. The Catechism actually says this of those who are same-sex attracted:
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

Yea, just making sure they are not a part of the agenda. So I guess they are not.

Unless you applying for jobs in a church, you’re going to find that secular employers are largely prohibited from discrimination based on sexual orientation or marital status.

The church does not teach that “being gay is a defect”. It teaches that same sex attraction is “objectively disordered”, which does not mean a “disorder” in the clinical sense, but rather that the attraction is ordered, or directed, to the wrong object. But a person’s attractions are just one aspect of one’s total identity.

While I admire your determination to remain true to Catholic values, remember that it’ll be incredibly difficult to find an employer that doesn’t support gay rights to some degree. I work for a truck driving company-an industry not known for progressive values-and my employer has gay rights benefits I think

Good luck with that! Perhaps you need to find some kind of a job that you can work from home. As in self employed.

Right. It’s just a case of following the law - by and large in the u.s. employers are legally required to recognize gay marriages.

I work for a very large Catholic health organization that is faithful to the Church’s teachings and does not support gay marriage. That is a possibility you could try. Catholics have hospitals, doctors offices, clinics and more all over.

I get what you are trying to say, though it is best to use say objectively disordered rather than defective.

God bless.

Not discriminating. But homosexuality is a disorder and condemned in the bible. If you are having such problems, its okay to acknowledge it but would still need to try to overcome it.

Yes it’s an issue of logic as much as anything. If there is even the slightest hint of discrimination employers know lawyers will be lining up with paper work in hand ready to sue. Therefore they know they better not discriminate. If they are stupid enough to discriminate they will face criminal and civil penalties, boycotts and bad publicity. Gays are one of the the protected groups. Unfortunately not all groups are protected from discrimination to which I personally can attest.

Homosexuality is a disordered inclination.
There is a difference.
One needs to be careful with their words and remember to condemn the acts only, not the person or the inclination.

So you are saying employers can’t be sued in civil courts for discrimination in all states? That’s news to me

Well, employers can be sued for anything—winning is a different story. I’m saying that sexual orientation is protected as a class ( as you indicated in your post) in 22 states and the District of Columbia.

Maybe not officially a protected class but in fact it is a protected class. Good luck employers going to court and winning a discrimination suit against an in fact protected class. Not to mention protests, boycotts, bad publicity. You think employers want to deal with all that? Thus the lawsuit wouldn’t even get to court because it would be settled out of court.

That’s not the same thing, though.

It might not be the same thing but they are still protected. Running in circles now. I’m out. Good night.
