Does anyone else love Lent?

I just love this time of year. I think it’s a good time to renew your faith if you have fallen out of it. Also I just like Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, and then the masses for Good Friday and Holy Thursday. I know it’s a sad time because we remember what Jesus had to go thru but I always feel so close to God during this season. Anyone else feel this way?

I wouldn’t say I love it, but I do find Lent particularly fruitful spiritually. Advent as well.

Relatively minor point: there is no Mass on Good Friday. It is a liturgical celebration, but not a Mass. I understand what you meant, though. Peace. 🙂
 
Ordinary Time is awesome. Just the “break” I need after Lent 😉
 
I do love Lent. It is a time that I do grow closer to God, probably because the priest reinforces our attempts and encourage us to look within our hearts and lives more than usual. Though sad, I love Holy Week, and I have always preferred Easter to Christmas.

This is the spirit of the world, to avoid sacrificing for sin
esp. of others as well as for our own sins. I think it has to
do w/ the lack of the Fear of God, or Love for God.
Jesus said:“B/c of the increase in lawlessness, the Love
of MOST ppl w/ grow cold” Mt. 24:12
 
All good. When you get older, as you witness many others pass on, you become grateful for every day. It is wonderful that the Church provides a liturgical calendar to live by. So meaningful, and spiritually rewarding. The Holy Spirit is eternal and manifests in so many ways when we tune in.
 
I love Lent because it comes before Easter!
The Resurrection is the best celebration ever.
40 days is just the right amount of time to look ahead and prepare … not too short, not too long.
Then Holy Week! The liturgical mood change from day to day. Our Story proclaimed at the vigil. The lights. The music. The honey fragrance of the candle … and the lilies.
All this deserves a lead up … that’s Lent.

I love Lent, too. It’s a wonderful time for reflection, repentance and an anticipation of God’s continuing graces.
 
I love lent because its a time to deepen the faith. Ive had two people give me free books this lent in order to read and learn more of the faith. There is such a generosity during this time and a time of spiritual growth. You know though when I read the fasts that the saints did it seemed so much more than what the church requires today. Catherine of Sienna fasted on only partaking of the eucharist for days. It makes me wonder if I should fast even stricter than what the church requires buy my spiritual advisor advised against it. He said that each has their own calling and that of a religious is different than the laity. I just have a deep desire to do penance more stricter than what I am doing now.
 
I do love lent!
  1. It is the only holiday where I KNOW who is Catholic. Every Friday you see them eating fish. It’s beautiful.
  2. It gives me a chance to choose something to spiritual to do each day. This lent I chose to pray the rosary daily.
  3. Easter is the most important holiday for me. God died and rose from the dead. Nothing is more beauriful than this.
 
Yes indeed. I love Lent. I think deep down we all know we need more prayer and penance in our lives.
 
Cant get into it at all.

All seems too much trouble. Guess i am just lazy and weak minded.
 
Maybe you are just trying to do too many things. Just pick one thing to do, one thing to give up, and give to the poor by donating clothes, or goods, or money, or time.
