Here are a few rough, rambling thoughts that were better in my head than written down…
Mary’s love is such a special thing to me, in so many ways…
One, she devoted her entire life to serving God and she was his first disciple. It’s outstanding because it takes a special kind of humility to submit to your own son. Her humility, faith and love enabled her to make the constant choice to sacrifice and serve God in every action and word (although this was also thanks to God’s supernatural grace and will), and also helping her through the many difficult situations which she encountered. And this is continued even now, where she leads us to Christ when we honor her. Devotion to her is like the beauty of the mood, it reflects on the sun (her Son).
She is the most important woman that ever lived, and yet she is so often scorned by humanity, and despite that, continues to pray for them. Rejected love is such a painful thing. To me, this shows the most unselfish kind of love.
Some of these thoughts are also applicable towards God’s love for us. Perhaps this is something I often specifically focus on because of the fact that her prayers hold back God’s anger from us.
These are just a few rough thoughts, anyone want to add on?
