Does anyone ever watch Hal Lindsey's "Intelligence Report?"

Most people know who Hal Lindsey is. He has written many books on current events and like to correlate them with his interpretation of Bible phrophecy.

In this program of his “Intelligence Report” he comments on current headlines, but also on news you don’t even hear from regular news channels.
  1. One interesting point he brought up in his discussion of the world being in the times of Armageddon is the fact that the U.S. does not play a role in this final confrontation. His final speculation was that the US as we know it now will no longer exists.
  2. I also have viewed a video of Catholic Prophecy of the End Times. The mystics on this tape say that no war will be fought on US ground, but as punishment for the horrendous amount of abortions performed in this country, the US will be brought to its knees by disasters of the worse kind.
Put 1 + 2 together, and we’re in for a frightening chastisement.

I heard from my brother that a scientist at Cal Tech, I believe, predicted a big earthquake will happen soon (speculation is September) in the high, South-East desert of California. This earthquake is near the huge San Andreas fault in that region.
But considering that earthquakes are practically impossible to predict, the date is really of little value.

Any takes, anybody, on the above subjects? Thought it would make for interesting dialogue.

Catholic prophecies and mystics have made a number of interesting predictions also and as for non-Catholic predictions, I have always found the George Washington one to be a very interesting read.
 
I have also heard that the US will not be involved simply because she will, for whatever reason no longer have the influence she once had. It could be having to spend time and resources coping with natural disasters or it could be political isolationists finally have their way.

I really have no idea…that’ s just something I have heard.

I wonder, now that we’ve progressed a few years into the future, does it seem more probable that we won’t have a U.S. as we now (or even from 2004) know it? I’m not trying to lend any credibilty to the predicitoions, but don’t current events seem to suggest that an irrelevant and impotent US is possible?

Hal Lindsey and intelligence are like cheese and a bicycle - seldom found together.​

People like him confuse a bit of bother somewhere in the USA with the end of the universe. Earthquakes happen all the time, they always have, & always will. Likewise floods, fires, pestilences, drought, wars, & every other woe that can be imagined: including predictions of the closeness of the end of the world. That the world is on the verge of the end is not even a distinctively Christian or Biblical idea: there’s a good case for calling it a pagan addition to Judaism.

As for natural disasters being a punishment, that is illogical nonsense. By that reasoning, the American Civil War could be interpreted as a punishment for the rebellion of Washington & his abettors against George III. Why not ? All one has to do is take:
  • a couple of facts
  • a train of reasoning to connect them
  • a bias to make the connection look plausible
  • an ability to ignore what won’t fit one’s theory
  • & an ability to argue one’s case
  • and, lo & behold, any two things can be seen as related as cause & effect, even if the relationship between them is so remote & so tenuous that no one with an ounce of sense would make it. So Martin Luther becomes responsible for the San Fran fire; the invention of printing becomes the cause of AIDS; the birth of Stalin becomes the cause of the election of Bush in 2000.
With religious silliness, the person being silly
  • takes something of which he disapproves
  • such as the wearing of trousers by women
  • ignores the fact they have done so outside Christianity for centuries without harm
  • finds a disaster
  • & blames the disaster on the wearing of trousers by women.
    How does such a person know that Almighty God is not protesting against capitalism ? People like this always credit the Almighty with their own narrow perspective - they don’t like trouseredness in women, therefore, the Almighty is equally miffed, & sends a plague or what not to prove it. This is the reasoning of those who called AIDS a “gay plague”, until it began killing those who were not. This is not religious faith - it’s a particularly wicked & self-righteous form of exploiting the suffering of some to stir up the indignation of others, & is one inch away from the lynch-mob mentality. :mad:

Lindsey has been around forever and has made a nice living from his books and lectures.Why don’t we quit speculating on these ephemeral things and just leave it up to God?

Goodness, I have not posted in this forum in a long time. I was really surprised to see this thread of 2004 resurface. I had all but forgotten about it.

I see Gottle of Geer made comments on what I posted about Hal Lindsey. From what I can recall, when I made my post in 2004, I was a regularly viewer of the Lindsey’s “Intelligence Report.” In this segment of his show he took on the role of commentator, like a Sean Hannity for example who not only reports but also throws in his opinon, and according to me I thought Lindsey was interesting to view because of the way he described and commented on the then current world situation. During the broadcast of the “Intelligence Report” Lindsey did not constantly quote verses from the Bible, but had hard hitting comments and his concluding view points on the news were, IMHO, right on. I then read that Lindsey had lost his spot at, I believe, TBN, and that he had to find another location to broadcast from. I speculated that he no longer was welcome at TBN and that, maybe, TBN had received complaints about his manner of reporting. When I located him in his new spot, I soon lost interest in his new style. It seemed to me he was guarded in what he said and the reporting was much toned down. I figured I might as well look at a regular news channel. Since then I have not watched him again.

I think Gottle of Geer possibly has Lindsey of 2004 confused with Jack Van Impe, a protestant minister, with a similar format Lindsey has/had. Van Impe’s style is different. He tries to draw conclusions to fit current news with his opinion by quoting heavily from the Bible. I don’t watch Van Impe, only saw enough to be able to have my opinion about him. He mainly does what Gottle of Geer describes in his post.

Since I no longer watch Lindsey - if he still has his program - has now maybe begun to sound like Van Impe. I don’t know, just guessing.

Van Impe and Lindsey are basically cut from the same clothe, although Lindsey was more forthcoming with specific “date setting”, Van Impe “implies” when Christ will come by comparing current events with Jewish “tradition” concerning their interpretations of the phrase “a day unto the Lord is as a 1000 years.” His speculation is that after the world has past through a 6000 years of history that Christ will return to set up his kingdom on earth for the last 1000, mirroring the 7 days of creation. I’ve often wondered if he also believes that it took God 7000 years to create the world. Anyway, ole Jack has predicted, oops, implied that Christ will return sometime around 2012-2015. So, get ready folks…:rolleyes: (My personal opinion, it could be anyday so we need to be ready each and every day.)

Interesting to read this post from 2004 - it seems it’s the globalists and not the isolationists who have won out.

Was not saying that at all. I was discussing the video that mentioned what could be in store for America.
