No it doesn’t. Catholics also believe that adults can be converted. And the thread is on favorite hymns. I did not see anything about most appropriate, greatest theology or anything. My goodness, next thing I know someone will want to argue best flavor of ice cream. Again, if you want to start a new topic, feel free to start your own thread.

I, at least, will try to get back on topic.

What I am saying is that when we say we have favorite hymns, these are songs that we listen to during Mass. However, when a hymn has lyrics that contradict Catholic doctrine or area not in line with Liturgicam Authenticam, then we need to re-examine the music. As Pope Benedict clearly states in Sacramentum Caritatis, one song cannot be as good as another, especially when it comes to the Eucharistic Sacrifice.

In fact, I would suggest that you read this article regarding Bad Catholic Music. You might be surprised at what you will learn.

Hi Immaculata, you really have to seek these more traditional parishes out. It may require a longer drive (mine is located near the downtown area in a major metropolitan city), but its worth it! The Adoramus Hymnal is an excellent resource for these hymns. So much traditional music has been lost in the last 30 or so years.
