Does anyone have any experience of this bible?

It’s my favourite Bible for reading to myself or for study, though when I’m reading to my kids I use the Jerusalem Bible.
 
I have an NRSV (New Revised Standard Version). Admittedly it does have a problem with inclusive language, but on the whole I’ve found it quite good for study and personal use.

I also like the New Jerusalem Bible. I used it all throughout high school and sort of got a bit attached 🙂

I have almost that exact same Bible in leather with zippered cover. I’ll bet the pages are the same as the one you linked.

It is my favorite Bible and goes everywhere with me. After two years of reasonably rough use it has held up very well. I’m sure the zippered cover is one reason why it held up.

The RSV-CE is one of the best as far as English translations go. The English version of the Catechism uses the RSV and the NRSV. If you’re asking specifically about the compact version, I have one of those, and it’s hard for me to read unless I have sufficient light. But, then again, I’m 56. I don’t think it would be a problem for those substantially younger.
 
Thanks for everything 🙂 I went with the one I posted in the end. Nearly bought NJB but then I heard the footnotes could be dodgy:shrug: Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to read Douai-Rheims.😃

It is the NAB where the footnotes are dodgy and not the NJB

As has been said all ready, this is an excellent translation, easily the best of the more modern language translations.👍👍
 
Until last week, I never had a Douay-Rheims. I have read only the online versions, and the Douay Old Testament that is used in the Catholic Confraternity bible. So, I went looking and stumbled upon a 1914 D-R in excellent shape. One thing that I love is that it has turn of the century (taken around 1900) photos of the holy land. Much different back then - much more like biblical times, I would think. While the language takes some getting used to, it becomes an easy read.
