The Richest Man Who Ever Lived: King Solomon’s Secrets to Success, Wealth, and Happiness… by Steven K. Scott.

This book was highly recommended to me, but I am wondering if it is okay for Catholics to read.

The title of the book seems to give away the fact that it is all about material prosperity.

King Solomon should not be our example; but our Lord Jesus Christ himself, who told us to die to ourselves, pick up our cross and follow Him.

He is preaching health and wealth gospel, though he is endorsed by some very legit people, the person getting rich here is Mr Scott. :twocents:

About twenty years ago my son was reading a book called “Think and Grow Rich”. Another one of those type of books.

He talked about it a lot and thought it was great - but as he got into the later chapters he was convicted that it did not sound right. That Sunday, at his parish, they were giving out booklets about the Catholic faith to share with others. He took one, and ultimately got rid of the “Think and Grow Rich” book.

Gradually he got more and more into his faith, and saw through the book he had been reading at first. Glad this was a happy ending!
