I was at mass on Sunday and a lady sitting behind me gave a book mark to my little girl. On the bback is the “Litany of Humility” Which is a Catholic Litany from the 1800 started by Cardinal Merry Del Val. I pray this Litany sometimes as it is in my Pieta prayer book.

I didn’t really look at it to closely while at church as I try to concentrate on the mass as best I can, and also I’m used to people in the pews around us smiling and waving at my 2.5 year old daughter because she is just so darn cute.

After Mass I was able to see what it was that my daughter was given and it seems to be distributed from a company called “Direction for our times” here is the link www.directionforourtimes.com does anybody know anything about this and who is this Anne they keep refering to.

Thank you for all responses.

Peace!

I had not heard of it until now, but, looking at the site you posted, it looks like Anne has “inner locutions” and has written a bunch of books about what Jesus (and perhaps others in heaven) have said to her. It says one of her books is distributed with the “permission of her bishop”, but I doubt this is a church-approved thing. I’d be cautious. Having the permission of her bishop does not = impra mater either.

“Anne” is not her real name. She is a mother of 5 or 6 children and reportedly has locutions of Jesus, God the Father, Blessed Mother and a bunch of saints. She says that she has been told by Jesus to write their words down in the form of Volumes. You can read them online for free to determine if it is personal revelation which you may or may not choose to believe, but you surely do not have to do so. There is also a monthly message on the 1st of each month. I do not believe there is anything intrinsically wrong with any of the emssages, and her writings have all been submitted to the Vatican. Of course, I am not an expert.

I find the words to be very inspirational, loving and peaceful. They all point to Jesus Christ the Returning King and our mission to bring souls back to Him one at a time as we grow in holiness and learn to rely on Him for everything. Beautiful! 🙂

I would not let your daughter keep that bookmarker. You could make a bookmarker with the Litany of Humility on it yourself from your computer. But as far as the other information on it I would get rid of it.

No one knows for sure whether this woman has real locutions or not, or if those locutions come from God or Satan. But to be on the safe side, I would not take any of her stuff to be real. The Church has not approved anything she has supposedly heard from God.

I am a theologian.

No. Nothing in the Catholic Church is “for free to determine if it is personal revelation, which you may or may not choose to believe.” Read CCC # 801.

Every charism must be subjected to the Church for it’s pastors to express it’s authenticity or lack of it.

The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has already clarified a wide spread misunderstanding about this particular issue, stating that:

"The Interpretation given by some individuals to a Decision approved by Paul VI on 14 October 1966 and promulgated on 15 November of that year, in virtue of which writings and messages resulting from alleged revelations could be freely circulated in the Church, is absolutely groundless. This decision actually referred to the ‘abolition of the Index of Forbidden Books’ and determined that — after the relevant censures were lifted — the moral obligation still remained of not circulating or reading those writings which endanger faith and morals.

In should be recalled however that with regard to the circulation of texts of alleged private revelations, Canon 623 #1 of the current Code remains in force: 'the Pastors of the Church have the right to demand that writings to be published by the Christian faithful which touch upon faith or morals be submitted to their judgement’.

[Alleged supernatural revelations and writings concerning them are submitted in first instance to the judgement of the diocesan Bishop, and , in particular cases, to the judgement of the Episcopal Conference and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith."
