Does anyone know about reiki?

Of course not. It is a holy sacrament as taught by Christ’s Church for 2000 years! 👍
Exactly! The act of passing teaching authority, spiritual responsibilities, and (for lack of a better word) spiritual power stretches across history, cultures, and continents. It is woven into the fabric of humanity’s experience. Just because something is passed from teacher/student does not make it occult.

from the little i gathered about reiki and qi, the ‘master’ gets the ‘powers’ from nature and even after one graduates to the ‘master’ level, they need to replenish their energy by touching some thing with lifeforce, like a living plant or some thing as healing others is them transfering their lifeforce to the other person.

for ordinations, please correct me if i’m wrong, but the bishop is merely an instrument and it’s the Holy Spirit that descends and ‘ordains’? For Peter, it was Jesus himself who ordained him and after that Peter and his successors where just instruments no? even when saying masses, priests are acting in the person of Christ no?

That is not my experience, and nothing I’ve read on reiki has indicated this. I’ve been attuned twice and have read several books on reiki/energy healing. Without exception, no person that I have had close contact with who is also reiki attuned does this. In fact, when giving reiki, the idea is to NOT use your own energy, so as to give the person you’re treating only the reiki energy.

I’d really like to clear up that misconception.

Thanks for the clearing up regarding reiki. Reiki refers to a univeral lifeforce yes? A student learns how to use the lifeforce by getting attuned by the ‘master’ at different reiki levels is that right? At one of the levels, there’s use of certain symbols if i’m not mistaken.

i was told this by some one who took classes and got attuned to the first level of reiki and before getting attuned to the second level which is belive is where you learn more about the symbols dropped out as her spiritual advisor advised against it as it’s sort of venturning into non-christian domain)

I can’t speak for all reiki teachers out there. I do know that their is some kooky stuff out there with regards to reiki and similar things. I tried to choose my teacher with care (and I’ve been very happy, as I have continued to learn from her).

This is one of the reasons that I wish the christian church would see that reiki is good. If the Christians could embrace it, then, in my opinion, it might mitigate some of the crazy stuff I’ve read about reiki (like that it came from Atlantas 🤷).

Caved in to pressure from whom?
Dunno. All I know is that during my last workshop (fall of 2006) she announced to the class that she would no longer “be allowed” to give the reiki workshops at the retreat center. She was visibly irritated.

My bet is that it was a combination of pressure from the Diocese (it’s located in an an extremely conservative diocese) and pressure from donors.

Well, I can’t say it annoys me, if anything I’m quite happy there are still some churches that care about their members spiritual welfare. If you want reiki why not seek it elsewhere? There are a great many practitioners from other faith backgrounds.

No. They care about power and maintaining their authority. That’s it.

Because I understand that not all things in the cosmos are spiritually good. If I am learning reiki from a person who is grounded in Truth and Goodness (like a nun or priest), then I can avoid some of the kookiness (and some downright dangerous things) that goes on in different eclectic groups.

We’re not so different, no?
