It could probably be a Chinese character isn’t it?

No, it’s a symbol on a uniform worn by a group of Catholic boys. It look life either F✝️B or R✝️B

It isn’t this but it starts to look a little bit like things like this:

This is the full picture(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Looks like a monogram for their school. What country are they in?

I don’t immediately recognize it. It might be an A and B with the cross at the centerline (similar to how the Latin Æ dipthong is written), but purely a guess.

From the larger picture it looks like it might have been some type of scout or club uniform given the capes, neck kerchief, and other accoutrement. The emblem almost lost like it is on a waist sash or something distinct from the short pants they are wearing.

I think in this case context (where, when) would be needed as it doesn’t appear to be a widely used Christogram.

On first glance looks Japanese to me… but given context is Catholic, if we assume middle is a Christian cross… do the initials ‘F B’ mean anything in the context of the photo so far as you know? Maybe the name of this school?

In order I’d guess:

FB
PB
AB

(And as another poster guessed, would imagine it’s the name of whatever school or local org they belonged to.)

Does anyone recognize the flag? That could give a further clue.

I’m in Canada. Someone posted two pictures on our local Facebook group asking what uniform this was. We think it was taken at a small parish in a community not far from where we grew up in New Brunswick.

At first I thought they might be members of the Croisade Eucharistique, but their uniform included a beret, which no one is wearing in either picture. And the symbols don’t match any that I associate with the Croisade, of which I was a member in primary school.

But answering this just triggered a memory. There was a private “college” in the area. “Collège Don Bosco” was a private school, founded by the Salesian Fathers in the late 40s. These boys might be from that institution. I’ll have to see what I can find out.

@Phemie Yeah I agree with Victoria. It seems to be a simplified monogram of the Blessed Virgin Mary. But it just has a cross on top. And it seems that the picture was taken before the Vatican Council II.
