Does anyone remember New Coke? What about other old products that aren't around anymore?

I’m from the south, so Coke is basically a member of the four food groups. I’ve heard a rumor that they are brining back “New Coke”! I think it’s a bad idea, but thou shall not speak ill of Coca-Cola!

Does anyone else have a fondness for products they just can’t get anymore?

I like the old school Dr. Pepper that you can only get a couple of places.

Does the UK still sell Blackcurrant Tango? I developed quite a jones for it while an exchange student at Oxford (Pretty funny in view of the famous Blackcurrant Tango advert where an exchange student writes to the company that he doesn’t like it). I haven’t been able to find it anywhere the last few times I’ve been in England. Of course I cannot get it stateside anywhere.

I pity the fool who didn’t like this discontinued breakfast cereal!

I never ate this stuff, but the box was too great not to post… 🙂

I drove past a Blockbuster video store in April in the Dallas area (Grand Prairie)… we had randomly picked a Chinese restaurant to eat at, on our way to a concert, and got there, and realized they didn’t actually have tables. It was take-out only. Anyhow, I didn’t realize there were still any around. It was raining, or I would have taken a picture of it. The lights were on, and people were going in and out of it… I really wished I’d taken a picture, because my mapper shows all the area locations are closed! 🙂

Exactly! Everything is “Coke” whether it’s Pepsi or some other brand of soda. But to bring back New Coke? Ugh. I’m not sure what they are thinking with that one…

Wow! I thought they’d be banned by now. I remember candy cigarettes that had a pink gum in them, like the kind you got in old packages of baseball cards!

My brother’s favorite cereal when we were kids.

Good news if you’re a fan – you can now buy 12 boxes for $45 on Amazon.

Oh my goodness!! I remember these cookies.

There was a little Italian deli near my home and my mom would go grocery shopping. I’d wait by the display, quietly still because I was told to be good, then I could have the cookies.

These were the best chocolate cookies.

What I miss is a cereal from the 1970’s. It was called “Buckwheats”. It was a flake cereal, I guess made of buckwheat, with a sweet maple flavor.

Wheat Chex sort of remind me of the flavor.

Nedicks in New York City. They were an open to the street fast food chain that was known for it’s signature orange (and grape) drink.

Ry-Krisp crackers

Cracker Barrel has a lot of the old fashioned candy from the 50’s and 60’s.

I just remembered that due to the Necco candy company bankruptcy sale last year, Mary Janes and Squirrel Nut Zippers are now unavailable. I hope somebody brings these back, or an imitation of them. The Mary Janes (molasses taffy with peanut butter in the middle) are particularly good.

According to the brand’s Web site, Blackcurrant Tango is no more 😦 I guess they couldn’t compete with Ribena…

They shouldn’t be hard to find. :+1:t3: Every time I go grocery shopping in the UK (which isn’t really that often, maybe 2-3 times a year), Ribena blackcurrant products alone take up two shelves in the soft drink aisle. As far as I can tell they are the market leader for blackcurrant soft drinks (though they do have other flavors).
