My point is that sharing things in common may not be related to the actual reason of the thing.

For isntance, Finland and Denmark are remarkably similar and share a similar government/political structure.

Yeah I hear (or read) you there, this post was meant to get support for my opinion that Catholicism isn’t the cause of that

Do you mean that catholic countries laws were not based on Christian principles?

I really don’t know…common law…which was based on Christian principles came out of the British legal system…which much of our legal systems in the countries I mentioned developed from…what I am trying to say is that maybe the British were able to keep their culture and their religion separate because their religious beliefs and practices were based on that common law opposed to their secular culture life…like I said I’m only guessing…so hopefully some one here can help both of us

to you for a profit!” Isn’t that interesting.

We condemn the wealthy to repent from using child labor on hardly any funds. But, what do you see at your shopping malls and who provides it? We are hated for a large voice with very little money compared to big voices with billions of dollars. Sure, many of those companies also help the needy, I have seen it with my own eyes. But they may turn around and accuse us of selling heaven in indulgences. A priest will bless something for you and not sell you anything for a profit, but it will benefit you spiritually. Yet, people will say, “that is the
Evil works harder to destroy truth. What faith do the hard core satanist continually attack ? There is testimony to be found from many converted satanic priests. Their PRIMARY target is the Catholic Church. I wonder why ?

Catholic Spirit… Not sure how this got attached to your post as a reply… Was intended as a reply to the O.P.

Yeah but without colonialism most of the former colonies would still be backwaters with no modern amenities.

Since Catholic people have (historically) had larger families, there is more nepotism, as families place relatives in high positions. This leads to more corrupt government, when everyone is related to each other, and covering for each other!
Just kidding - - this couldn’t possibly be true, could it?
To be honest, I sometimes feel the same way about asking saints to pray for me. Why would God give me preferential treatment because I know someone (a saint)?

A lot of “Catholic” countries aren’t really Catholic in the sense that they have a religious government. It’s a statement more on the religion of the population. The only Catholic government I can think of is the Vatican.

I read there is a positive correctional between Catholic countries and corruption vs Protestant.
After some contemplation, I think it’s more about the Protestants being unique than it is the Catholic countries being corrupt.

I say this because there are also many non-christian countries that are very corrupt. I think corruption has more to do with human nature and perhaps strong families, where you are culturally expected to give them a leg up (Nepotism).

I don’t know what makes protestant views on the scripture unique, but I think that’s where the answer may lay. Perhaps the book (law) is supreme vs. putting your faith in an authority figure.
