Ty for answers!

We call them Father.

Are you asking if they’re allowed to be a godparent to a child at baptism?

But why are they called as godparent?
The proper name is “sponsor”, and this is what the Church officially calls them. However, many languages have used different popular terms, but the one that has become popular in American cultures translates to “godparents”, and indicates that the sponsor of the child is supposed to assist in the spiritual upbringing of the child…leading them to God.

A priest can be a godfather/sponsor at a baptism, as far as I know, unless he’s the one doing the baptism.

A priest is called “father.” A godparent is a witness to a baptism that promises to do what they can to ensure the child is raised well in the Catholic faith, especially if the parents pass away.
