Another Christmas tradition, the annual Christmas Mass obligation question.
To be followed next Spring by the annual Easter Vigil Mass obligation question. I do not understand how someone who knows about and comes to CAF can be confused about such prominent liturgical practices.
Because some well-intention people give others incorrect information or want to belabor the point. Even some of the replies on this very thread demonstrate this.

The first reply to the OP (by HomeschoolDad) was correct and that should have been the end of this thread: question asked, the correct answer given. But no, others had to chime in to make it sound more complicated than it is.

No wonder some people get confused.

As long as someone tells us what time midnight Mass is at . . .

🤣 😱 😜
Yes, but nowadays, many parishes have the “Mass at Night” (which is what the missal calls it) at 10PM or whenever, so that question isn’t quite as far-fetched as it once seemed.

I become grumpy secretary when those calls roll in.

We advertise Midnight Mass. That tells you the time!!! 🙂

If it were Mass at 9 pm it would be advertised as “Mass at Night”.
