Does Darwin’s theory of evolution contradict Catholicsm?
Yes and no. It depends upon which version of the “On the Origin of the Species” you pick up. If I remember correctly, in the first, Darwin, a Pastor’s kid, attributes his theories to God’s providence. That would make it compatible with the Catholic idea of “theistic” evolution.

But, in the second and final version, he removes that attribution. That would make it, in essence, “atheistic” evolution and that is against Catholic Teaching.

you asked:

What I’m trying to do is come up with a ‘could’ve happened’ formation of Adam. One that doesn’t violate Catholic teaching or the Scriptures.

I came across the word dust attached to populations of people
Genesis 28:14

14 and your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and all the families of the earth shall be blessed[a] in you and in your offspring.
Numbers 23:10

10 Who can count the dust of Jacob,
or number the dust-cloud[a] of Israel?
Let me die the death of the upright,
and let my end be like his!”
1 Kings 16:2New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSVCE)

2 “Since I exalted you out of the dust and made you leader over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have caused my people Israel to sin, provoking me to anger with their sins,
and then looked at this a new way
Genesis 2:7

7 then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
Man of Gen1:1
Ok a population of humans but they would have to lack intellect. The dust God formed Adam from.
How can they give Adam a body and not violate the Church’s boundaries.
But the only way I thought it could work is for there to be types from the Christ Event. The Father’s had one already. Eve coming from Adam’s side. The Church coming from Christ’s side.

I imagined all of them as one man. This population of people on earth before the individual person Adam. That they are Adam and he is them as one man. The body of Christ is like that. We are it’s members and He is our head. So a type of Christ’s body in this story. A type of resurrection too.

I was thinking that they would die in Adam like we die in Christ. Then when Adam’s earthly life ended in a bodily resurrection ( didn’t happen though) all of the ‘dust’ of the earth would have their bodies returned to them each with an immortal soul having been a member of the body of Adam. They would be lifted up body and soul like Adam

There it is, parents of Adam with material souls.
A work in progress

Genesis is not science but rather it is exquisite theology.

Green Warblers becoming more Green Warblers is macroevolution - LOL!!!
Look up the scientific definition of “macroevolution”. One species splitting into two similar species is exactly the definition of macroevolution.

Here is my view point,

The Genesis story in the Bible does not explain the HOW of creation, but the WHO and WHY of creation.
Darwin’s Theory of Evolution does not explain the WHO or WHY of creation, but the HOW of creation.

Think of it as a jigsaw, these two explanations of how the earth came to be in its present state can fit together quite nicely if you look at them the right way…

I just don’t understand why the theory of natural evolution is viewed so negatively.

This is still not what the Church teaches. One man, one literal Adam and one literal Eve.

Nonsense. The theory of the car includes the who and why, plus the how. And we can check on it ourselves.

How do you propose to explain the twin nested hierarchy of life without evolution?
Explain it? Who am I to explain why God created what He did? This is like asking, “Why did God choose to make the sky blue and grass green and a platypus?”

Do nested hierarchies rule out a literal interpretation of the Genesis creation account?

I heard that not all forms of life fall into nested hierarchies, anyway.
Heard this where exactly? Can you provide a citation?

By the power of God.

How did something come from nothing ?
Why would the beginning of the universe (or whatever came before it, if that concept even has any meaning) be bound by causality. Causality is a feature of the universe we know today. Pushing back beyond whatever constitutes the “start” (if there was a start) may involve an entirely different set of physical principles. Perhaps the universe had no beginning at all, but rather when we talk of the beginning, we’re really talking about the observable universe.

Why accept the universe could be billions of years old and not accept the theory of evolution?

You just admitted that a literal reading of genesis leads to the view that life on earth started 5778 years ago. In fact a literal reading of genesis implies a young earth and a young universe. But you are willing to make compromises when it suits you.

If God didn’t intend that creation should naturally evolve then what is the point of an ancient universe and an ancient earth? Why not create everything in one instant including life?
You are making erroneous assumptions about what I believe. I outlined in post 402 my literal interpretation of Genesis. I believe it implies the planet earth and most of the universe were created before the “six days” of creation. So there were two different stages of creation. Don’t ask me why - it wasn’t my idea. There could be a huge gap between between Genesis 1:1 and the “six days”. When went on it that time we aren’t told. Maybe there was some other creation that God hasn’t told us about (and why should He? He tells us only what He wants us to know).
It doesn’t make sense.
Everything God does is supposed to make sense to us humans? Good luck with that one.
This just goes to show there really isn’t a literal interpretation of Genesis at all.

I don’t know. I don’t even know if there ever was “nothing”. It could be the concept of “nothing” is meaningless and has nothing to do with reality at all.

After receiving your replies, I researched stuff.

No where in the first chapter of Genesis, or the next three verses of chapter two, does the phrase “The Power of God” appear.

As for ‘nothing comes from nothing’, I agree. Scientists believe that lightning in the earth’s early atmosphere cause a chemical reaction that kick started evolution at one celled life forms.

Let me have my beliefs and I will let you have yours.

All interpretations of the Bible start with the Literal followed by other categories.
