Can a person be kicked out of the Catholic Religion by the Church? I do not believe it possible myself. I know once baptized you are cemented eternally as a Catholic no matter what church you end up at, right? I am not leaving nor am I in nay type of issue that I would be cast out if possible, but it was a question that popped in to mind.

Thank you for your time;

No, an excommunication does not kick someone out of the Catholic Church. Excommunication is a decree that someone’s choices/actions have placed them outside of full communion with the Church. This renders them ineligible to receive the sacraments until they rectify the situation that caused the excommunication.

Excommunication is a medicinal penalty, it is not seeking to exact a punishment to satisfy justice. Excommunication seeks to awaken the soul of the individual to repent.

Out of love and concern parents may need to kick their child out of their house but they still love the child and claim him as part of their family.
