Does God actually decide the time of your death

I hope I can convey this question without sounding off the wall.

What I mean is does God decide that you will die when the other guy is going the wrong way on the highway and crashes into you head on or does he just permit you to die as a result of natural forces that are involved when two cars hit head on? Does he actually make a decision that you will die at that time or does he see this and simply allow you in the course of the event.

I hope I have explained my question so that it makes sense. I know what I am trying to say, but don’t know if I have conveyed it to you.

Is there any way that His omnipotence and His omniscience be as good as an answer or
even contributing hints to your question?

I guess what I am trying to say is do we die as a result of both God’s permissive and direct will and is it most likely to be by his permissive will than direct.

The Bible implies that it can be either. Most people God permissively lets die, and others’ deaths He directly wills.

i know it was written in the OT that each person has x days.
And if it isn’t your time then it isn’t. But God knowing if it is your time then it would of His permissive will that you would die that time.

In the case of Jesus Passion and Sodaom and Gahmorra yes those are Gods will. In the case of cancer or a car crash those are most likely just him letting natural forces play out.

I think there could be multiple answers to that question because of our liberty and because of the goodness of God’s providence.

We are allowed to do whatever it is we want to do. If someone decides to live a life full of risks, then it would seem that may have a great bearing on an earlier death.

Yet I would think that God in his love and goodness would pick the best time when we would be more disposed to dying the holiest death possible for us, whether it be young or old or other.

So he may do it any way he wishes, but being that “God is Love”, we know which way he will choose.

Just a thought.

Very interesting, something to think about.
