Over the past week or so, I’ve had two bizarre dreams/experiences that have led me to believe I am going to die soon. This doesn’t make sense to me, as I am only 18 years old and in reasonably good health. I know that evil spirits can frequently masquerade as God, and this case would seem to be ideal for that. I often worry about dying, and fear the amount of grief it would cause my parents and other family members, whose already lukewarm faith would likely take a significant blow. I also tend to jump to conclusions quite easily, and have a tendency to examine relatively ordinary dreams as “visions”. I don’t recall these dreams explicitly saying anything about dying either, and so I have reason to believe I’m simply being paranoid. Should I be worrying about this, or is satan just trying to distract me from spiritual growth and turn my attention to pointless anxiety?

I am only guessing that your frequent worrying about your death has caused this dream. However, you should have not thought that because you were 18 and healthy, you couldn’t die yet -
The time comes “like a thief”.

What did you mean by saying that your family would take a “significant blow”?

I don’t think the Lord let’s us know in most case’s when we are going to die. I thought I have been dieing for the past four years being in remission of cancer. Every checkup, I brace myself for the news, but so far He has kept me around. I have come to think the Lord takes us at the peak of our grace or sin depending on where we are going. Which direction are you going is of more importance. Have you reached the fullness of your holyness on earth or is there room for improvement? I think the Lord will let you reach the fullness of your path first. So keep improving and keep alive 😉 .Tim

I don’t think the Lord would do this. I’ve never heard of any saint being told the hour or the day, either. Even so, we should all strive to prepare to have a holy death, because we really never know when that time will come.

If this is causing you fear I don’t think it is from God, especially when your thinking of dying. There’s no such thing as death with God - you are alive now here on earth, then you will be alive eternally with God. There is no death in God, as you are a child of god you are immortal and cannot die - so don’t fear something that will never happen to you 👍

sometimes, usually like all communication from God it comes through normal natural means, like staring at the side of a big truck when your car spins out on the icy freeway, or a diagnosis from a team of doctors, or a conviction that one’s poor health habits are putting one in danger. The ordinary way God speaks to us is through divine Revelation in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, given to us through the teaching authority of the Catholic Church.

Does God speak through dreams or other mystical experiences seems to be the real question. yes God can and does reveal himself to individuals at certain times and places but such private revelation must ALWAYS be discerned with the help of one’s confessor or spiritual director.

ordinarily dreams are simply the normal activity of the brain during unconsciousness as sense impressions gathered in waking hours are processed and stored. If recalled upon waking they can give clues to our mental processes and help us interpret what has been going on in our own lives recently, but that does not constitute divine revelation, simply the normal brain at work.

You might have to re-arang this because we know that
No person knows when another will die neither the son or the angels only the Father in Heaven. But the body will die and that is the new life forever in Heaven.
Jesus tells us not to worry about the person who can kill the body rather think about the one who can take the body and the soul.
Jesus tells us not to worry about death for it after all is the time of presenting ourself to God in a place of no pain no illness, no wrong doing for there is no sin.

You are young, and there is much life for you, I am sure. Take your abilities, what you would like to be to do and think of them build for them be God centured life has fun in it.
it is satin who puts worry on our mind.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus look full in His wonderful eyes and the thoughts of the world will become strangely dim.

Godbless

It’s possible, but I don’t know…
My great great aunt was said to be extremely saintly, and she was said to have predicted things about other people’s lives and htey would cone true exactly as she said. She was said to have predicted her death date; and that is the day she died, at the age of 88.

Phil, uglygal is absolutely right when she says that if what you are hearing is causing you fear, it is not of God. When God speaks, he brings peace. When God predicts the future, his followers feel peace in his presence. Even if he’s predicting persecution.

God can tell people about their coming deaths. After Jesus’ resurrection, Jesus told Peter about his coming crucifixion upside down, according to scripture. However, the scripture does not say that Peter felt panic or fear at what Jesus was telling him. That is not God’s way.

If what you are hearing is creating fear in you, it is not God that is speaking. In fact, my father has always taught me that feeling fear when you think you are hearing words of the spiritual realm is a sign that what you are hearing comes from the enemy.

I feel extremely certain that what you are hearing is not God. It could be an ordinary dream that is the result of your fear, as water suggested. Or it could be a dream and preoccupation created by the enemy for any number of reasons- to curse you, or to scare you. Please surrender it to God and ask him to take it (the fear) into his powerful hands. If you surrender what you’ve been experiencing to God and ask for his protection and that he will turn your mind toward healthier things, and if you trust him to help you, he is fully able to do so.
