Wait, this is your mother! Why are you arguing with your mother???

Stop arguing with your mother and just love and honor her. Be a perfect son and show her what love is. Forget about this nonsense argument about whether God kills or not. The argument is from the devil.

Be Christ. Love mom. That’s it.

I’m trying not to argue. That’s not my point. But it’s hard to discuss things with her. Like theology. I don’t argue with anyone else and I know Baptists and Jehovah’s witnesses an so on. And we talk about God all the time. It’s usually a pretty civil and reasonable discussion.

From the devil huh? Is the devil making me do it? 😦

What do you think about sickness? Does God put such things on people so they will repent?
No. Back in the days of the OT, though, people were of the opinion that all things were the result of God’s direct intervention in the world: if there was a storm, God caused it; if there was a fatal accident, God caused it; if someone got sick (or got healthy again), then God caused it.

In this context, then – and in the OT – there are many places where the Scriptural writer asserts God’s direct action in certain cases. However, this would be more a reflection of the prevailing understanding of the nature of God in that time, than it is an accurate understanding of the way that God acts. It’s not that God “used to kill” but no longer does so, or that God “used to cause sickness” but no longer does so. Rather, people used to think that this was God’s normal modus operandi… 😉

God does not kill because He is the author of life, God welcomes back what He started in the first-place, rejoice,
your back with God…

God can permit that someone to be killed if it is better for our humanity.
If someone want to start World War 3, I don’t think God will let that go because Earth would be devasted for His Return.

Maybe what your mom has issue is with what killing implies.

It is not right that we take a life, even our own, since it is not ours.
Our lives belong to God. He made us and keeps us going.

He takes back what He has granted.
In some ways it’s like lending someone a book, you expect it back.
That said, we are eternal beings.

Really good point of view.
