I have had periperal neuropathy for eight years because of the effects of chemotherapy. It is with me every waking moment. It occupies my every thought. I try very hard to be a good person, and love God and all that he has given me. I pray every day for this to come to an end. Maybe I am not deserving of his healing. Is it possible that God doesn’t love me enough to answer my prayers? Is there something I must do to be more deserving? Is it wrong to pray for a miracle?

It is never wrong to pray for a miracle and remember that God always answers prayers but not always in the way that we would want. You’ve gotten through chemotherapy! Congratulations! You’ve moved forward. Maybe your peripheral neuropathy is a reminder of what you went through. Don’t give up! Continue to pray but also talk to your physician and see if there is something else you can do. Never think that God doesn’t love you because He does; very, very much.
Good luck and God bless you.

God loves you so much that He has given you this pain as a means to skip over purgatory and get to Him in heaven as soon as you die. He doesn’t want to wait for you to be purified after death - He’s helping you do it right now. Perhaps you can change the way you pray about your your neuropathy. Thank God for it and offer the discomfort and pain in reparation for your sins and the sins of others. That said, it is never wrong to pray for healing, but sometimes the healing you receive is spiritual, not physical. This often happens when people travel to Lourdes for the healing waters. Many of the ones who do not receive a physical cure return home with the same ailments but a new ability to deal with them.

Before you tell me, “Easy for you to say,” I’ll tell you that I do the same thing when a recurring condition causes me to cry out in pain for hours at a time. I offer it in reparation for my own sins and those of others that have been caused in part by my deficiencies as a wife, mother, worker and friend.

To sum up, yes, God loves you!

I don’t know if my chronic pain is going to keep me out of Purgatory but I do know that living with daily pain has taught me about God, about myself and about how to have compassion for others. I do know that while God has chosen not to heal me of this physical suffering, He has, in fact, healed me of all my spiritual suffering. I try every day to remember all the prayers of mine that He has answered “Yes” to and be grateful that I am free of the suffering that may have damned my soul. If He chooses to allow me to carry this cross, I must strive to accept that He who knows all certainly knows what is best for me.

OF COURSE HE LOVES YOU!!Go and read my post ‘Gods love letter’.He loves you more then you can possibly imagine. Also,he has a good reason for making you suffer. It must be to make you a stronger person. When her father was ill,St.Therese of Liseaux once said 'our father must be much loved by Jesus in order to suffer like this’And that is the case with you, too! It must be really difficult, but just try to be brave. If you stand by Him,God will reward you later on.And yes,its a great idea to pray for a miracle!I will pray for you!God bless.Remember GOD LOVES YOU

  1. You are loved by God. Why else would he have sent the Messiah to save you?
  2. No, you are not deserving of healing; none of us is or will be.
Pray for healing, but accept your human condition.

Matthew

I took care of my mom for 20 years many of them she suffered. She said the suffering was for others. I guess if she kept one soul from hell with her suffer then she would think it was well worth it.

God gives big things to his best friends. You have been choosen, so you must be one of His best.

God Bless you. I will pray for your healing.

I am very sorry that you suffer as you do. I do know what periperal neuropathy is but I know what chronic and acute physical pain is and constantly. I have oesteoarthitis and a lower back and neck injury that makes walking for one painful - and I dont have a car so walk most everywhere. . Many do know suffering and all know it on some level or other. As another poster has pointed out “as gold is tested in fire, so the servants of God are tested in the crucible of suffering”.
It is not wrong to pray for a miracle and sometimes God grants His miracles. God in Himself and in His Will is total mystery to us and all that He gives to us is never ever deserved…neither the joy He sends, nor the sufferings He may allow. God is always, always, giving to us and permitting what we truly need and what is best for us - as mysterious and contradictory as this may seem to our human logic.
Also, the cross and suffering on some level or other is intrinsic to our vocation and call as baptized into Christ: “we make up in our own bodies what was lacking in the sufferings of Christ” (St. Paul) this is an awesome matter - awesome! that anything whatsoever could be lacking in the sufferings and crucifixion that Jesus endured!!! It is a part of our vocation to complete those sufferings. Hence great honor and privilege. Very often our own sufferings are relieved by our attitude and perspective on what we suffer and we can be gifted with Peace and a Spiritual Joy in the midst of them.
There are truly horrific sufferings in this life and in the face of all suffering we are called by vocation in our baptism to be the Hands and Heart of Christ and make every effort that we can to relieve suffering. Sometimes we just cannot and this can be a great suffering too and we suffer because of what others must endure.
The cross, suffering, is most everywhere we look and in the face of our own sufferings we can consider those of others and the cross of Christ and what He endured. The Book of Job in the Old Testament is another great resource in times of difficulty and/or suffering. Job suffered to an extraordinary degree for absolutely sure and his attitude and perspective (gift)carried him through them enabling him to endure them. It is in Scripture and I think in Job that if I take joy form God’s Hands, must then not I equally take suffering. Perhaps first one needs insight that absolutely everything in life does indeed flow from the Mystery and Will of God. Suffering in life can be a stumbling block…and St. Paul sighted that the cross would be a stumbling block to many and not only in his day but continues to be so in ours.
Nevertheless I feel for you in your sufferings which do sound extremely painful. God does love you. He loves every last one of us equally and totally and eternally - it is we who drift from Him and love and acceptance of His Will for us in life…consider His OwnSon and what He endured and The Father permitted.
I will keep you in prayer that God will relieve what you are sufferings and/or grant you that Peace and Joy that transcends all pain and suffering.

God’s Blessings and regards…Barb:)

Vijon-
My mom suffered from this too. I will keep you in my daily and novena prayers. Definitely not wrong to pray for a miracle; I will pray for a miracle for you too.

God loves you enough to share His cross with you. Think of His wounds and remind yourself of that pain in which you share. I had neuropathy in the months following chemo and I know how painful it is. For you to have it for 8 years astounds me. Offer it for conversions and please would you say a prayer for me as I will for you. Tim
