Does God personally punish us for our sins?

I’ve heard people say he doesn’t, but I swear, every time I commit mortal sin, something completely unrelated but horrible happens to me. So now my relationship with God is beginning to diminish from love and trust to not sinning out of fear of judgment. How do I learn to “love” God again?

ALLL priests I hear say “God does not punish you”

There reasoning ( and mine ) is that the sin punishes you.

I have premarital sex. I have baby ( ohhhh boy lots of puinishment there) Think of sooooo much UNEXPECTED responsibility.
I would have to raise it. that would be kindve punishment because it took away most of my younger life.

Thats a good example

Basically Our actions punish us not God.

I steal I get caught go to jail.
I lie in court. = jail time

Hope this helps 🙂

I wish you wouldn’t swear, please and hope you aren’t doing this mortal sin a lot. Confession is for the absolution of sin so go and get washed . Love and respect (fear)God go hand in hand.
I like your picure the joining of the two hearts, Jesus and Mary:thumbsup:

IMO the punishment is contained within the sin even when it is not evident to the observer, or even to the sinner, and even when most of the ill effects seem to fall on the victim of the sinful act or on innocent third parties. far worse than observable, predictable effects such as getting STD, being thrown in jail etc, is the interior damage to the soul, dehumanization and character damage that is the natural consequence of sin.
