Does God prefer Monasticism?

I know that the Priesthood, Religious Life, and Marriage are all vocations, and that they all lead to holiness, but does God prefer Monasticism? He wants His Priests celibate, and He told his Apostles to forsake everything they owned. Does God prefer a life of celibacy and poverty to one that is not?

Jesus asked some to give up all they owned. On the other hand, God gave Job, Jacob and Solomon heaps of wealth. Yet he preferred that John the Baptist live on locusts as a desert wild man, as a hermit and model that many in the Medieval Ages emulated.

Some people gave up all they had, and God sent them out with nothing, to do his bidding. He gave others vast abundance. “The Lord taketh and the Lord giveth.”
