Does God put us here for some specific purpose?

Are we here because God gave us some purpose in life? If so I think my purpose was bringing my children into this world. I don’t feel there is any other reason he put me here. I I know this doesn’t sound good but for a long time I’ve been asking God to take my life. So far I’m still here. If there is some other purpose he still wants me here for I can’t see it anywhere, God is just silent to me. If God wants me to live and has some other purpose for me to still be here, why doesn’t he show me instead letting me live in this constant dark & loneliness? I’m getting tired and see nothing good ahead.

God does nothing without purpose, so yes, he puts us here for some specific purpose. In fact, He puts us all here for the same two purposes:
  1. To Glorify God.
  2. To save our souls (and as many other souls) as possible from Hell.
I’ll pray for your darkness to pass.

The creation is a result of God’s nature of generosity, because He, already being a community of Persons that required nothing, nonetheless produced children that would be “like the stars in the sky”. We exist so that we may love and be loved.

Here is what I was taught in first grade and is still good today.

“Why did God create you?”
“To know him, to love him, to serve him, and to be happy with him in heaven forever.”
That sounds almost too simple, but it is the truth.

I think you feel your mission in this world is over when you became an empty nester. It isn’t. Now he has given you another mission and you are fortunate to have the time to do it.

More good is accomplished by prayer than in any other way. Now Jesus is asking you to move on and come closer to him by purifying your life, working on your own image before him. Remember he dosen’t look at our bodies, only at our soul, to asses our worth. He sees differently than man does, who only judges the outside. He looks only at the love on the inside.

Now you can become the love of his life and move forward in your love for him. By doing so, you will not only find love again, but accomplish much more than you dreamed of by offering yourself as a spiritual mother to others who have become desolate.

Go to our blessed mother Mary to help you and teach you.

May God bless and keep you. May God’s face shine on you. May God be kind to you and give you peace.

I’m not quite an empty nester yet. My faith is not in a good place now and I’m not praying very well. I try to pray to Mary but don’t think I do it right. The priest in confession told me the same thing, to turn to Mary. Just don’t think I do it right. Can’t see myself being a spiritual anything to anyone when my own faith is so complicated now. I wish I could feel Gods love but I don’t. Oh well hopefully God can find something good in me because I can’t.

If you aren’t an empty nester, then you still have one home probably grown.

I has always been my understanding that God particularly has mercy on those who acknowledge how hopeless they are and then tell him that they are depending on him for help. That is where it starts, simply to tell him you are unable to help yourself and that you trust in his divine mercy to help. He himself said he came to save those who need saving and not to those who don’t need it.

And I believe that from what you said, you said you fit that description. So he won’t let you down if you continually ask.

And if possible, get Mary’s miraculous medal, have it blessed and wear it. Then tell her you trust her to come to your aid. Mary made a promise to those who wear her medal and pray using it. She said that GREAT graces would be given if you would only trust her.

May our mother Mary hold you in her arms.

IF God DID have some SECRET purpose for you being Born, you won’t know about it until after you are Dead.
I don’t necessarily believe that God has a Definite Purpose for things that Happen in Life.
“STUFF” Happens.

And,** “If so I think my purpose was bringing my children into this world. I don’t feel there is any other reason he put me here.”**

Let’s say that you are Correct in your belief.
Then, you will just have to Live Out the rest of your Life with NO purpose that God has given you.

This means, that you will have to FIND some Purpose (NOT from God, but from within yourself) to Live another Day.
You know, like if you enjoy being around Children, you can Volunteer some time with Kids.
If you have ANYTHING that you enjoy, then attempt to do that Thing.

Early in Life, with Marriage and Kids around, there is MORE-than-Enough to think about (and feel responsible for doing).
Now, you have fulfilled THAT Part of your Life.
So, you got THAT going for ya.

No, really, this might be the Time to attempt to EXPAND your Spirituality.
After all, you have Nowhere to GO . . . but UP.

And, "If God wants me to live and has some other purpose for me to still be here, why doesn’t he show me, instead of letting me live in this constant dark & loneliness?"

YES, I know THAT one.
I have Hoped that God would come down (for a few Seconds) and tell me what HE wants me to do with the Rest of my Life.
But (so far) he hasn’t spoken to me (or even sent me an email).
It is NOT Fair.

Hello. It just came to mind what I read many years back about a woman losing her faith in God. She did almost everything to get back her faith to no avail. As a last resort she went to a Priest. After hearing the woman’s plight the priest advised her not to focus much on herself but find people with the same problem as she has and help them. She started in her own neighborhood, befriending and getting to know them. She made her “misery” her own ministry, so to speak. Within a month she got to know her neighbors pretty much. In the process she “discovered” a distant relative who lived several houses from her. They stumbled on their relationship because they grew in the same town and when pictures were brought out that’s when they found out. They began to attend their bible study in their parish together. This may sound corny but as far as I remember the story was true.
God bless!

‘Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you.’ (Matthew 6:33). What God desires from each of us, first and foremost, is love. Like St. Therese, we can say, “My vocation is love!”

But more specifically, we are each called to a particular vocation (marriage, religious life etc.). St. Alphonsus, St. Vincent de Paul and others says that an abundance of graces are provided for the fulfilment of God’s plans; but if we knowingly seek a vocation apart from the one that He has made known to us, it will be very difficult to save our souls.

What we must remember is that His will is best for us, and if we love Him (which means doing His will), He will ensure that we fulfil His plans for us. If He seems to “hide” Himself from us, I imagine it is because by doing so He encouarages us to seek Him all the more!
