Good evening everyone I hope to hear some interesting opinions on the 100% true story that I am about to tell you.

I am not a religious person (seriously doubting that now) - but two weeks ago I had an incredible experience. Please remember when I tell this story that I have never read the bible. Ever. I knew the stories of Noah’s Ark, Adam and Eve and one or two things about Jesus but not much.

One month ago my first son was born. Two weeks ago I went to bed as normal but had a very very vivid dream that my son was seriously ill. But very seriously ill, on the point of death. In the dream I remember walking out into the street outside the house where my son was laying ill and asking out loud …what can I do? From nothing, in my dream, my vision went completely black and all I could see was the word John, followed by the number 46, brightly shining on a black background. I woke up from my dream confused, and had no idea what it meant.

It was only after a few minutes that it struck me that it may be a bible verse. I looked it up and nearly choked on my coffee. I googled John 46 and the first results were the passage of John 4:46 about a man asking Jesus to HEAL HIS SON who was dying. After healing the mans son, Jesus says something about people needing signs to believe.

Remember I have never read the bible, there can be no place in my subconscious that remembers this bible verse. I have never read it before.

What do you think? Does God use dreams? I’m pretty freaked out by it all!

Thank you!

God uses dreams and has many times in history.

Respond to Him.
If you are Catholic, be the best you can be: humble, loving, compassionate and faithful.

GOd bless.

I have had a somewhat same experience before.
I was torn about something I had done a few years back and asked God for a sign in any way, but since I was praying at night, I asked for a dream.
In my dream, the only part I really remember is me yelling, “THIS IS THE SIGN FROM GOD I ASKED FOR” and it was two crosses and two hearts. I have absolutely no idea what this means but God can work in mysterious ways if he may be trying to tell us something. I know I got the answer I was looking for. I do not know what God may be trying to tell you but I would discuss it with a priest or anyone who you think has a deep connection with God.
Congrats on the birth of your son!

The Lord Jesus is indeed, loving, humble and compassionate.
John 4:46-54 (NRSVCE)

46 Then he came again to Cana in Galilee where he had changed the water into wine. Now there was a royal official whose son lay ill in Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48 Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you[a] see signs and wonders you will not believe.” 49 The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my little boy dies.” 50 Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and started on his way. 51 As he was going down, his slaves met him and told him that his child was alive. 52 So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they said to him, “Yesterday at one in the afternoon the fever left him.” 53 The father realized that this was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he himself believed, along with his whole household. 54 Now this was the second sign that Jesus did after coming from Judea to Galilee.

Dreams are definitely a common way for God to communicate with people. If it made you look more into it, think about it, etc. then I believe that God intended to communicate with you in that way. He knew.

Hello John,
I don’t believe there is an individual somewhere in the universe that can say I am God. My understanding of God is a force that can be most observed by learning about instinct. For me instinct is a manifestation of God. It guides all life on earth. It has guided me in dreams and other ways. My reply is yes God uses dreams. There are also things you can do to make it easier for your instinct to me more clear.

I think God definitely uses dreams to communicate with people. But it’s also good to think critically about interpreting dreams. According to Islamic scholars, most dreams come from the mind. They’re just the brain processing information in ways we don’t fully understand. But in that tradition, there also true dreams sent by God and bad dreams sent by Satan. Evil dreams, those that are meant to frighten and disquiet or drive the mind to sin, are from Satan, while good dreams that bring comfort, happiness, or important information are from God. True dreams are typically sent to people with a reputation for truthfulness, according to some things I’ve read, since truthful people are thought to have a gift for interpreting them.

Recently, I dreamed that my great-grandmother gave me her tasbih beads, and then when I was walking in the park I found some rosary beads. It was kind of a weird coincidence.
