well, i really dun noe who to start this post… i met him 5 years ago and dated for 1 year, for some reasons i left my country and study in singapore for more than 3 years (we broke up during this time). however i noe myself that i was/am still loving him very much.

unfortunately there were a turning point, i have diagnosed HIV+ and told him the truth. he could’t accept this truth and refused to meet me up as he said he has not yet prepared mentally.

we start to see each other these few days (2 years later), he shows me care and i feel that he still love me but he doesn’t want to shouldn’t that responsiblity for a relationship. i tot i myself hv already lost the feeling, but i am wrong. i cried out and feeling down when am seeing him that day. we still meeting each other these few days for lunch and weekend.

well… what i think love is one way. i shouldn’t expect too much from him? does he still love me and is he showing love?

I am sorry. I am not him, so I do not know for sure, but it does NOT sound like love to me.

When someone loves you, he/she will want to care for you, especially if you are sick/not feeling well. That doesn’t mean he will want to partake in things that will make him ill–no ‘passionate’ kissing, nothing more than that, either, but…

I don’t think it is love.

Why do you love him? What makes you love him?

If he really loved you, he would love you regardless of the fact that you have HIV. …that doesn’t make or break a person, it just adds on to who he/she already is.

I wish you health. I am praying for you and your friend.

Thanks a lot for your reply, Emily.

Yes, Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13:7)

Ryan,

Careful taking one line of scripture in application to any topic.

Some other things your Catholic Faith teaches about love:

1604 God who created man out of love also calls him to love the fundamental and innate vocation of every human being. For man is created in the image and likeness of God who is himself love. Since God created him man and woman, their mutual love becomes an image of the absolute and unfailing love with which God loves man. It is good, very good, in the Creator’s eyes. And this love which God blesses is intended to be fruitful and to be realized in the common work of watching over creation: “And God blessed them, and God said to them: ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it.’”

1653 The fruitfulness of conjugal love extends to the fruits of the moral, spiritual, and supernatural life that parents hand on to their children by education. Parents are the principal and first educators of their children. In this sense the fundamental task of marriage and family is to be at the service of life.

1661 The sacrament of Matrimony signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love with which Christ has loved his Church; the grace of the sacrament thus perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity, and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life

Obviously your health situation puts a different perspective on some of this, but I do believe that reflecting on these and other (as I stronglu encourage) Church teachings about love and relationships will help.
