Does it count as praying the whole Rosary?

I was praying the Rosary earlier when I had to stop as I was interrupted by my wife and children and continued where I left off a few hours later.

Should I have started again?

Thanks.

I pray a rosary a day. I rarely complete a rosary without interruption. I think that’s fine.

What about this devotion causes you to believe that Our Lady keeps track and refuses your humble prayers?

Don’t worry about it. Life happens. Do the best you can. :signofcross:

I’m a little troubled by the question… what do you mean by count?

No. Prayer is prayer. We do the best we can. If your family needed you, then that is what you are called to do at that moment. Then pick it up again later.

Yeah, if you start from where you left off, that certainly “counts” as one full rosary. I do this all the time. There’s no problem with stopping, especially when you have the responsibilities of family life!

On the other hand, if I stopped and then wanted to finish it a week later, I’d probably just start over at that point!

This is the third thread in which I’ve mentioned this.

Saint Padre Pio said if he had to restart the Rosary every time he got distracted he would spend his entire lifetime without completing a Rosary.

The answer is that you do NOT have to restart a Rosary.

Please also remember it is a private devotion, not obligatory and therefore it is up to you what you do.

Prayer isn’t like a vending machine, i.e. a number of prayers in gets a return.

Prayer is relational. It opens us up to God’s grace and it is an act of love from ourselves to God, and from God to us.
