I am going to ask my priest to enroll me in ‘The Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel’. Once done so, I am going to wear a nice sterling silver medal scapular in place of the wool. My question is does it matter which side of the medal scapular is exposed?
The medal I have looks like it is meant to be worn with Our Lady of Mount Carmel facing to your heart and Jesus with his sacred heart exposed to the outside. I say this as the medal has a nice border around Jesus, but the back with Our Lady has the sterling stamp and isn’t quite as nice as the other side.
The reason I ask this is a lady at church said you suppose to wear the medal with Our Lady exposed to the outside, but this medal was surely not made that way. Does it matter?
