Thanks. I am caking it up.

I bet Jesus laughs at some of our posts.

How about this? Go back into the Gospels and reread where could could have laughed or smiled. Like when he told the guys to fish over there and they burst their nets. Even with the woman at the well, 'Ya you’re right you dont have a husband. You had three and the guy you’re with now is not one of them." The sermon on the mount. Feeding the thousands. Read those stories with a different image of Jesus.

cryptomonophytism
Was there a spelling error? Googled turned up nothing. (Much to my surprise,)

As for my thoughts, as others mentioned, the children loved Him. And looking at children today, they like people who are willing to laugh. No child would say, “I like Grandpa because he sits in stoic silence and never laughs.”

I also recall a speaker’s thoughts where his own opinion was that if the Apostles were following Jesus, there had to be some laughter amongst them.

And to leave with one last thing, I do like some,of the Laughing Jesus images.

Google Rahner who wrote a bit about it.

Cryptomonophysitism. Yes there was a spelling error, sorry.

So it concerns the rejection of the full humanity of Jesus. Many Christians think in this way. Where full humanity of Jesus, ie he never laughed, too Holy, therefore very serious
Is because Jesus never really became fully human.

The Council of Chalcedon in the 5th C defined the full humanity of Jesus, therefore giving us low Christology, Nicea had given us high
Christology

Rahner argues that we are a bit stuck in the high Christology. And should we have a lot more to say about low Christology, since Chalcedon no one really had. Since mid 20th Century when Catholics were allowed to approach Biblical studies with a more historical-critical approach, the humanity of Jesus has come back into focus. We can also thank vatican 11 for allowing historical tools and methods in looking at the life of Jesus.

Of course Jesus laughed!! The God who made the elephant, the ladybug, the kangaroo, the manatee, and the platypus definitely has a sense of humor. Jesus was, and is, completely and utterly full of peace, contentment, and JOY! People could use a whole lot more of that Joy of the Spirit around here.

People are drawn to true Joy…joyful people are like magnets attracting everyone around them. Jesus was absolutely joyful in the Love of His Father and in His Love for us.

I always wonder why people post silly
questions like this?
In this case, I suspect it’s because the Bible doesn’t have anything specific in it saying, “Jesus laughed”. It says “Jesus wept” and it describes Jesus being angry, but no explicit description of Jesus laughing.

Many people think if it’s not explicitly stated in Scripture, then it didn’t happen and therefore Jesus must not have ever laughed in his 33 years on earth. Which is, of course, ridiculous.

Anyone remember The Name of the Rose?

I am not sure why this first link does not automatically load like the second.

Jorge argues that Jesus did not laught.

And then destroys Aristotles legendary book devoted to laughter.

Laughter is part of being human and Jesus is truly God and truly man so he laughed and probably does still.

Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep. (Luke 6:25)
I said of laughter, “It is folly,” and of pleasure, “What does it accomplish? (Eccle2:2.)
how could Jesus not follow his own advice? Scripture strongly disapproves of laughter and dissipation.
laughter and dissipation greatly distract us from familiarity with God; it is an experience that can easily be done.
Finally, I distinguish a smile that can be had on the face, to the laughter properly speaking

There’s a BIG difference between laughing about serious things, i.e. dissipation and sinful revelry, and the laughter/humor that comes from joy, purity, and delight in God and the world He has created for us.

Laughing at holy things or calling evil things “good” is what those verses are talking about, as well as recognizing that earthly pleasure in this life is fleeting and vain compared to living our lives for God. They are referring to people who are only concerned with their own lives and give no thought to God and what is owed to Him. But they aren’t ruling out humor and laughing all together.

Verses cannot be taken out of context. The Lord tells us to rejoice over and over again in Scripture. I would bet that it’s the most repeated command in Scripture. We should be full of joy and delight in Him.

Can you imagine serious and dour parents who never take joy in their children or forbid laughter in their homes? God save us from sour-faced saints! I’m sure holy and pure laughter is ringing throughout Heaven with our Heavenly Father.
17 The Lord your God is in your midst,
a warrior who gives victory;
he will rejoice over you with gladness,
he will renew you[b] in his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing
18 as on a day of festival. Zeph 3:17-18

I do not know, but when I’m happy I do not laugh. I smile, and often I cry with joy. Laughing at home is pure dissipation, no matter if the subject of my laugh is a bad thing or not.
These passages do not speak only of laughter about “bad” things
