So here’s the deal: a pseudo-calvinist friend is saying that the body and the soul are not an intrinsic unity but that the body is merely a shell. To back this up he is claiming that Christ does not have his earthly body and that we will not have our own bodies at the resurrection but that we will be given new ones. His back up line is always that Paul says somewhere (he won’t say where, I’m guessing he doesn’t know) that Christ is “no longer in the flesh”. I have sought to refute him by showing that Christ had flesh after the resurrection, he seems to maintain that Christ somehow lost it or exchanged it after or during the ascension, claiming that the body Christ now has is not physical. What does St. Paul mean, and how can I show the man he’s mistaken?
