Does Jesus say Mary not blessed in Luke 11?

I have a friend who says this scripture says it all about the virgin Mary and where he stands.
What can I say to this scripture?

Luke 11: 27-28

27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, “Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you.”

28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”

The person in the crowd was saying that blessed was Jesus’ mother merely because she was his biological mother. Jesus was pointing out that it is more blessed to be a faithful follower than to simply be biologically connected to him. Had Mary given birth to Jesus and then went on to lose faith and commit sins then her biological motherhood would have been of no good.

In the case of Mary there is no case of either/or but rather it is both/and. Mary is both Jesus mother and his faithful follower. Mary was without sin and thus is most blessed as one who hears the word of God and obeys it.
