Does laser eye surgery work?

I had PRK. I had the surgery done because of a condition that happened at night where my eyelid would stick to my cornea causing unbelievable pain and significant decrease in vision for several days. PRK is done on the surface of the cornea and he basically fuesed the layers together so they don’t rip off. He also corrected my vision but because the damage in my left eye was so severe from this condition happening all the time that he could not get perfect vision…but I went from 2/400 to 20/50. But he considered that a success. He also did the other eye which didn’t have as much damage and he got that to 20/20. I have to wear glasses for reading and the computer but other than that I can do without. I had no complications.

That sounds like an excellent outcome, considering the conditions you had.

I bugged my ophthalmologist for several years about doing Lasik, but he kept putting me off. I was so nearsighted I couldn’t get out of bed without reaching for my glasses, couldn’t see the big E on the chart, etc. He said that eventually I would need cataract surgery and at that time he would correct my vision.

So I scheduled that sooner rather than later. In cataract surgery they remove the natural lens and replace it with an implant lens, in my case a corrective implant lens. Now I can see fine to drive with no glasses.

I would double check with your dotor but Some people 's vision goes back to how it was before the surgery after pregnancy. An old co-worker had it done at a young age and after her baby her vision was as it was before the surgery. I dont know if this is typical or not.
