Does Mass make anyone else cry afterwards?

Today after Mass I knelt down to pray and instead just started crying. Mass at my parish has deteriorated, and the more I pray for our priest, the worse it gets. For the past two Sundays there has been no penitential rite, nor kyrie. We just launch into the Gloria right after the opening prayer. Today before the homily the priest instructed everyone wearing their Bruins jerseys to stand up so we could acknowledge their Stanley Cup win.

There are some things that make me sad too at my parish I try to just focus on the Eucharist… I only feel entirely at peace in the TLM

I get more upset than tearful. Does the priest ‘thank you’ all for coming to Mass? I always found that such a weird thing to say, even if he really means well. If anything, we should be thankful…I have to agree with Monica I find it best in the TLM. I am not preoccupied with abuses or silly applause. We are there to pray only.

Has this priest been acknowledged with the fact that he’s skipping the Penitential Rite? That’s pretty bad that he can do that but acknowledge (in a good way) those wearing jerseys.

I cried for multiple reasons when I attended Mass, sometimes it was the songs and psalms, sometimes it was the sermon, a few times I cried through the eucharist when I thought deeply what it meant to us. Then there were times when it was out of guilt, having to stand in my seat while so many people walked over to accept the Eucharist.

Its been years since I attended a Mass though, I have no idea how I would respond today and quite honestly nothing is driving me to experience that again…

During those times when I can really concentrate during the Mass is when I find myself crying, especially during the Eucharistic prayer. There are also a lot of LA in my parish and last Sunday was really the worst! The announcement (which I’m neger fond of from the start-just don’t get it…; just seems so wrong to me) was unbearably long. I was tempted to walk out but just couldn’t because i was still waiting for the final blessing. I got upset and teary. So, I immediately closed my eyes, tuned them out and prayed. I’m glad my husband agrees that we should start looking for other parishes to attend Sunday Mass.
