My fiance and I would love to be married. We both were just confirmed as Catholics. My fiance was married 25 years ago in a Lutheran church. He was not a member of the Church nor was he baptized. He just was baptized, received the Holy Eucharist, and confirmed at the Easter vigil. Doesn’t baptism wash away the sins of the past including divorce? I do not know if he needs to obtain an annulment or not. Help, please.

Hi,

The Chatholic Church recognizes non Catholic marriages as valid. Yes, he needs to see if his marriage can be annuled. He needs to see his priest about this.
