I’m a baptised Catholic, who hasn’t received any other sacraments, however I’m currently attending RCIA.

DH is a confirmed Catholic.

We were married by the JofP.

I’m wondering about receiving communion at the Easter Vigil.

DH hasn’t rec’d communion since we married, but we understand he’d need to go to confession first…and maybe have our marriage convalidated. (?)

I asked on the main apologist forum, but haven’t received a reply…it’s been over a week so I don’t think I’m gonna get one.

Can anyone help me here?

TIA

Yes, you have what is called a lack of form as you are both Catholics and therefore subject to Canon Law regarding marriage. You married outside of the Church without permission.

You can easily rectify this.

Make an appointment to talk to your priest. He will be able to help you through the process.

Thank you so much for your quick reply.
I’m going to call right now.

Just a little update, mainly because I don’t know what it entails, and now I’m concerned it won’t be done in time.

I spoke w/ our priest about getting my marriage convalidated.
Of course, he affirmed that it needed to be done.
HOWEVER, he told me was to talk to my RCIA instructor.

I thought he might be interested and tell me what to do himself, but there must be a process to follow.

Oh well, I’ll talk to my instructor tonight before or after class.
