Does OSAS mean OBAB?

For those who believe OSAS (Once Saved, Always Saved), or for those who once believed it, does it follow that OBAB (Once a Believer, Always a Believer)? Is faith required after being saved, or is one saved whether one loses one’s faith later or not? I can see a couple of options:

1. Having faith is not required after having been saved.
2. It is impossible to lose faith after having been saved.

I was a Southern Baptist for my last 8 years as a Protestant. I never fully bought into OSAS, but I did immerse myself into studying the theology, including absorbing (but not necessarily believing) the teachings of R.C. Sproul. My take is that OSAS tends more toward the second option, that one cannot lose one’s faith once one has been saved. (Full disclosure – I was raised in a denomination about which it used to be said that they believe in backsliding, and practice it every week.)

I’m an Evangelical Christian, and though I don’t believe in OSAS, I’ve heard the theology of its proponents plenty of times. OSAS is related to the Calvinist doctrine of the Perserverance of the Saints, which would be most like your #2-- OBAB. And even from non-Calvinists, OSAS, the way I’ve heard it many times, is more OBAB, in that God will not disown a Christian, even a very confused, wandering one, who has even the tiniest shred of faith left; the shred may be so small and so buried that the wandering Christian is not overtly able to recognize it himself, but God knows it’s there.

I recently Asked a number of osas friends I found the majority that didn’t know thier bible well believed a unrepentant sinner is saved while very few believed continual repentence in needed for salvation so its mixed for them

I saw this series of posts the other day on another thread. Personally, for my own liking, I think I’ll go through each of these references that were used and replace each scripture reference with an actual link to each scripture passage presented. That way a reader can read the actual scripture passage as well as one’s paraphrase of the passage
