Does our child's baptism need to be at the parish we belong to?

My husband and I would like to have our son baptized at the parish our extended relatives belong too, which is in a different city, instead of our own parish. In doing so, it would make it much easier for family to attend. We don’t have any family living in the city where we live. Is that allowable?

Yes, your child’s baptism may take place at any church. If you relatives are active parishioners at their parish you might just want to have them talk to the pastor and give him a head’s up that you will be contacting him regarding having your child baptized. That way he’ll know a little bit of the background when you get in touch with him.
