Does passing stimulus programs, one after another work

Easily criticized, especially by those with a political axe to grind, but no one can say with any certainty what shape our economy would be in without them. It seems to me that every “expert” claim denouncing stimulus programs can be met with a counter-claim touting the good they have done.

I don’t think stimulus plans have been doing what they should for the economy.

We have a failing infrastructure in this country and a lot of men and women out of work. Seems like a good solution would be for the fed to pay for all of the roads, bridges, and sewer systems that are woefully neglected and falling apart to be repaired. Couldn’t hurt to throw in the barely hanging on power grid while we’re doing upgrades. That’d get and keep people working while pumping some serious cash into the economy.

i haven’t seen much come from them, just waste.
Actually the wealthy have done a fine job of accumulating the funds. Had they gone ahead and used the money to stimulate job growth and GDP then the stimulus packages would have worked.

There is no doubt that corporations have a pile of cash and have made record profits under Obama’s time in office. Yet, they are skeptical enough about future prospects to make big investments at this time. So the one thing we know is that Obama’s stimulus did not provide businesses with enough confidence to make investments. If they would have had the confidence we wouldn’t need the stimulus.

Stimulus spending is neither universally good nor universally bad. If there is a truly worthy project, its budgets need to be prudent, competitive bids must be found, projects must be well-managed, etc., etc. However this hardly happens in reality, because the world of government spending and govcon (government contractors) is rife with cronyism and inefficiency.

The stimulus programs passed by this current administration were nothing more than political paybacks to teacher’s unions public worker’s unions and, of course, the auto worker’s unions.

Looking at the number of American’s not working and our dismal economic growth, It does not take a rocket scientist to realize that political payoffs don’t help the economy.
