Does religion have an influence on politics and votes?

In the U.S, how much religious values make a difference on votes?.
What are the main focuses on the voter?
Maybe: Number one: Money (economy, wages, taxes…)
Number 2: The charisma of the candidate who wants to become president
Number 3: Security
Number 4: Religious belief

I mean, for example, if someone believes in the Bible, is he going to vote more for republicans or democrats…?
Is the fact that he is a believer or non believer will have an impact on his votes. I personaly think it does.

Well, there are many religious people that absolutely will not vote Democrat due to abortion alone. Many admitted they held their nose and voted for Trump because of the anti abortion platform of the Republicans and/or due to picking the Judiciary.

I’m sure many religious vote Democrat due to feeling that the other social issues outweigh the single issue of abortion. Both groups definitely use their religious views in determining their voting pattern.

As @Pattylt says, it cuts both ways. Two things we see all the time on the World News forum:
“How could anyone claiming to be a Catholic possibly vote for Trump?”
“How could anyone claiming to be a Catholic possibly vote for Biden/HRC/Sanders/Obama/Pelosi?”

a vote for a democrat supports more than just abortion, don’t limit it.

by voting democrat you support the entire LGBT agenda, euthanasia, embryonic
stem cell research, transgenderism, identity politics, the destruction of the family, contraception, socialism, breaking the seal of the confession, forced abortions in catholic hospitals, forcing the church to perform same-sex marriages, liberal judges, etc

however, abortion is the premiere issue. Even the US Bishops prioritized abortion as the main topic.

Personally I’m more interested in advocacy for murdering babies born alive than charisma.

But I realize that’s a contentious position in today’s society.
